Can I see what the waitlist letter looks like? Feel free to blur out your name and such.
MODERATOR’S NOTE:
Not allowed per Terms of Service.
@stochastic1 All I can tell you is that it has a waitlist reply form link/statement, and the usual accompaniment statements for thanking you about your app, and about why the dec. was so.
On the letter it says that mitadmissions.org will tell write a blog post about what wait list students should do, but I don’t think I see that blog post : does anyone know what we’re supposed to do?
anyone?
How much do y’all think they’ll take from the wait list this year?
How much will they take this year? Let do the MIT math:
Year 2021 - 14/400
Year 2022 - 0/460
Year 2023 - 7/426***
*** Of course, I’m guessing
wait, r the numbers for 2023 random, or based on statistics? @bob53765
@vc_scrubjay, in MIT FAQ, ~2% of applicants were offered a spot on the wait list from about 21,300 applicants. The 7 off waiting list is just a guess - average of 2021 and 2022
Looks like he took the average of the last 2 years, which is as good a guess as any.
Oh haha, I missed that.
@bob53765 @skieurope Are you both fellow waitlisted applicants?
Yes, for my DS. Wait listed. The likelihood of getting in is nil so DS is moving on.
Oh I see @bob53765, is your DS going to stay on the wait list?
Or, any other ppl considering staying on the wait list?
Why wouldn’t you stay on the waitlist?
@brassratter because other people may have been admitted to a school they’d like to attend, don’t want to write an update letter, etc.
Personally, I am planning on staying on the wait list. Are you planning to?
People stay on it, but just for an aspiration… you know…if something like a blue moon turns by… but in reality, expect to have 1-2 school or at least 1 school in ready to enroll form in the most probable case that things go south.
