Mit?

Hi, I know this is very cliche, but I'm trying to get into MIT next year and I can't think of anything else I could do to show them my dedication to physics and how much I would like to study it there. I am a Junior, top student of the school, dual enrolled at University of South Florida (A+ average there). I go to a performing arts school and study cello for 2 hours a day. I write techno music in my free time, do some extreme scootering and biking, and work in a lab at the University. URL - "<a href="http://shell.cas.usf.edu/%7Emmunoz/">http://shell.cas.usf.edu/~mmunoz/</a>". I'm away from my house 6:30 am-10pm every weeknight at school.

How is your weighted GPA so high? My school must have a drastically different scale for calculating GPA. You sound solid, just get excellent teacher recs and essays have to be top notch. Maybe write about physics and Saabs, if you know what I mean. You should use personal experiences and apply them to topics relating to MIT. Good Luck!!

Honors course +.04 per half credit
AP course +.08 per half credit

I should have over an 8 after I graduate, which a few kids have done in my county

I definitely could write essays about how much I love Saabs and Physics, thanks!

you should add Stanford to the list of colleges you intend to apply to.

I’m not sure how much it matters since you’ll be a physics major, but your CR and W scores are very low. Additionally, all of your SATs II are math/science related, so you may want to take a history or language one.

MIT, CalTech, Stanford, Princeton, Columbia, etc

Thanks for telling me how your GPA sclae works; mine is totally different. Good luck to you, as I wish to attend most schools that you are applying to. I am only a sphomore, but I am ambitious. Hope you get into MIT!!! :)
