My daughter desperately wanted to live on the Foggy Bottom Campus. She got assigned to Mitchell in a single and is worried that she will feel isolated and lonely. She was hoping for a double. Is Mitchell friendly/sociable. She doesn’t want a party like Thurston but would like some sociability.
Mitchell is all singles, so that means socializing will take a little more effort than other dorms. That’s as simple as keeping your door propped open, though. Ultimately it will depend on the other people in Mitchell and whether or not they chose it so they could be in a single or if they were simply placed in it.
I will offer this encouragement for your daughter, though: she is literally around the corner from Thurston, aka Party Central. If she chooses, she can hang-out with classmates she meets that live in Thurston, socialize. and then retreat back to her own dorm quite easily. From my time there, a lot of the freshman class did just that- they’d hang-out in Thurston and use their own dorms for sleeping and studying.

Why not ask your Daughter to consider the Vern? Ask her to read this blog, may be she will like the Vern more than Mitchell Single.

And I was telling my son the same as what students have mentioned in the blog. The only negative is you need to wake up early to catch the ride and have to grow up and not forget stuff in your room… [good way to learn to stay on top of things]…
