Oh god that would be awful! (>.<)

I believe there’s a link in the email, then you login to see, just like MIT admissions. But then again, I’m not 100% sure. Either way, we should be fine.

Yup, totally going to come this week, just to spite me after sending out more applications to other programs. @_@

I will laugh if it doesn’t come until the 16-17th XD. On that Spanish talk, lldm21, I feel your pain on taking more Spanish courses, I took the first in 8th grade and Spanish III in 9th grade. Ironically enough, being a 1st gen, I get better grades in gifted English. -.-*
I’ve only heard that such AP exam is easy for Spanish speakers, but I’m not planning on taking it; I want to learn French in college. Also, I think Stanford is the only college I am applying to that will have that 3-4 credit requirement; but I’ll ignore it and stick to my goal of 10+ years worth of each science and math.

@Rivstein, I don’t know why, but I believe you will get in. Don’t get your hope so high though, I’m sure you wouldn’t want to be hit by depression on the matter.

My hopes fell down to healthy levels after I looked in the mirror called myself crazy. My number is now 50%.

Oh man… If get into SIMR, I will love Stanford more than MIT… If I get rejected… I lose my hope for Stanford EA :p

My friend applied to MITES last year and did not receive a notification whether he had been accepted or not when his other friend had. Later he found out that he really was not accepted. Do you guys have any insight on whether this was a mistake, or is this something that MITES admissions officers just do?

Probably a mistake. Most likely a flat envelop or late notice is a sign of bad news.

Don’t you have to pay for SIMR, or is that free too?

Alright, so y’know those times that you feel like you’re super qualified and that you’re totally gonna get in? Best feeling ever. However, there are also times on the other side of the spectrum. In order to satisfy that side of me that is convinced I’m NOT getting in, I’ve gotta ask.

What other good summer programs are still open for applications? I know it’s late, but you can never be too sure that you’re gonna be doing something awesome over the summer.

@Areo523, I hate to break it to you bro but I think all good summer programs deadlines have passed… So I guess we just have to find something local in our area. My backup plan is research with a local doctor.

Oh dang, I forgot I applied to summer programs through QuestBridge too ***… So i’m bound to get in somewhere right? Wowowowow Rofl

@Rivstein, SIMR is free but the acceptance rate is like SIMR without the food and living costs. I heard Stanford campus living is like 6000$ for 8 weeks but I’ll be willing to chip out the 6000$ because there’s stipend. The funny thing about it is…Notifications come out on my birthday lol

@Areo523 Well I applied to University of Wisconsin’s Engineering Summer Program, and the deadline is April 5th. Then again, that’s if you want to be an engineer.

dafaq, I got into Rockefeller Summer outreach program without the lab placement yet.

I guess I have a safety already… April 14th to make my final decisions lol.

Sigh… :P

I only applied to MITES.

I have no back up plan because I live in the middle of nowhere.

I need this; I would never dish out 6 grand of my own money on a summer program.

@Rivstein, I’m surprised you didn’t apply to SSP… It costs around <2000$ for someone like you and its a program affiliated with MIT/Caltech

@Rivstein If you don’t get in, which I hope we all do, why don’t you just use that time to get a job and/or visit colleges? This is what I’m doing if all else fails.

I’m applying to PROMYS but its more math related (number theory) than engineering and science.

It’s hard to find a job in my area. It’s in the middle of nowhere and has very few employers (unless I want to drive 45 miles).

I can’t go see colleges because I’m poor.

@Alpha2014
I honestly did not know about anything summer related until MITES sent me a postcard in the mail. I would have applied to SSP if I knew it existed, haha.

@Nashia: That’s exactly what I’m doing … I just filled out my ~10th job application, actually. <_<

*Clark University (MA)
*UConn (CT)
*Skidmore College (NY)
Wake Forest Uni (NC)
*Boston College (MA)
*Brandeis Uni (MA)
Oberlin College (OH)
College of W&M (VA)
Carleton College (MN)
Carnegie Mellon ¶
*Vassar (NY)
*Wesleyan (CT)
*Amherst (MA)
*Brown (RI)

Starred the ones that I’ll be visiting. Guess I’ll be spending some time in MA, although I am going to chop my list down to ~8 (atm it’s at 14 I think).

@Rivstein, I believe deep inside with your stats… You should be able to attend E2 & at least a guaranteed wait-list at MITES. I’m also poor so I can’t go see colleges except nearby ones or driving for hours

@Rivstein So you’re serious about this life or death thing? lol I really don’t have the money either. You should just probably apply to millions of scholarships then. I hope I’ve helped.
