@Riv: That’s really harsh! And I thought my school was bad for making us clean bathrooms when we’re tardy three times…

@lldm21: The “pompous jerk” thing is so true. Han Solo, anyone? (Or Flynn Rider, for that matter :))

@lovelylily28 THANK FOR THE LINK! lol Oh, and meeting people like you gives me back hope for humanity, but people like that guy make me want to (and I quote my crazy friend for this) “become the next Hitler and eliminate all idiots.”

You guys have strict tardy policies?!? In my school you get a detention, which is being locked in a room for 30 min after class. Although I do manage to break plenty of school rules around, at least the ones that bother me (like wearing uniform Dx).

@lldm21 I find it so odd that someone that isn’t my best friend or a family member is calling me by my first name lol. It’s not that I don’t like you calling me by my name, it’s just I am really used to Ozzy.

Nevermind, I lost hope at pompous jerk lol.

Oh the joy of long island schools, one senior last year was late 19 times IN A ROW, and he’s a national merit scholar and #7 in his grade. Administration nearly held him back @_@

I definitely think academic intelligence is really attractive, but the guys that I’ve fallen for tend to be intelligent in other ways (I’m a sucker for good musicians & artists… haven’t come across a writer yet, but I’m sure one will steal my heart some day). Although, he has to be traditionally smart to a point… not trying to say SAT = intelligence, but my ex got a 1300 as a senior, and not because he misbubbled. He had a lot of redeeming qualities, but it sucked because we honestly had nothing in common, and just having a conversation that appealed to both of us was difficult.

@Lovely: I cannot say that I have seen Tangled … and I had to google Han Solo xD. I need to see all of those movies: Star Wars, Trek, LoR…

@Ozzy: Sorry, quirk of mine. Some names (Benjamin, Zachary, Christopher, Osvaldo, et cetera) I just prefer to spell out. I’ll call you Ozzy from now on! Also, you don’t have to be a jerk to get girls; although, sadly, it helps, lol.

We don’t really have any policies for being tardy; it depends on the teacher and how much they like you. The state of CT, however, as of June 2012, apparently implemented a new policy toward truancy: 10 absences, excused or unexcused, and you will be officially deemed truant. Would have been nice to know before I’d made it to 9.

@2roads Well the president of 100 Black Men came to my school to talk about the college fair. After the assembly, I asked if he knew anything about MIT/MITES or anyone who has attended. He then told me to email him. I did, and he emailed his friend and BAM; he has helped me out quite a bit. I’ll email him if it is okay. I’m sure it will be though.

hoctopi.■■■■■■■■■■ is mine… be prepared for a lot of sentimental crap. ( I actually have a tumblr trio… hoctopi.■■■■■■■■■■ is sentimental, schmoctopi.■■■■■■■■■■ is random funny junk, and scictopi.■■■■■■■■■■ is sciencey.)

But yeah, I seriously can’t wait for decisions. I just want to meet and hug all of you. I’m getting a bit worried, though; I was just rejected from this program at Baylor (though, truth be told, it only accepted 10 students… it just means that Clarks’ is unlikely at this point XD)

Let’s all go have some ice cream.

@Ozzy: No problem Hahahahaha, I know exactly how you feel. I remember sitting in on a gen ed course last year and thinking to myself, “I want to slap every person in this room.”

Yeah, my school is strict about eeeeeverything. And they love to email parents about every little thing. They not only send grade reports constantly, but they also send the grades on every assignment you turn in. So if I don’t do a history homework assignment because it’s the lowest on my list of priorites, my parents see the zero and get upset, even if I have an A in the class.

:O Nooo, don’t lose hope! It’s my rebellious teenager side mixed with growing up in a conservative, Christian home and going to a Christian school that makes me want to like the pompous jerks. The rest of me prefers the nice guys :)

@Hoctopi I second the ice cream notion, even though I don’t like ice cream. Anything to get my mind off of decisions. D:

In other news, I got a call back for an interview to research at a local university (which has quite the research facility) today and I’m infinitely happy! An interview usually means you’re in and they just want to meet you, so I’m incredibly relieved. Now I wouldn’t mind if I got any of the 4 programs that this application went to since I have such an incredible back-up plan!

@Hoctopi Don’t let that discourage you. As I have said before, everything happens for a reason. Maybe you’ll get into MITES now.

WHAT, YOU HAD TO GOOGLE HAN SOLO?!?!? lol

@lldm21 I’m a sucker for good musicians too, haha
Han Solo is like THE arrogant bad boy that’s really a sweetheart on the inside
I think the jerk thing is more about the confidence, you know?

Ozzy, yeah, not a huge timberlake fan, but that song is hilarious :D

@Hoctopi: Only if it’s Ben & Jerry’s Cookie Dough! Also, I’m prepared. I’m good with anyone who doesn’t re-blog X rated material every hour.

@Mobius: I KNOW; I’M A TERRIBLE PERSON =P. Just didn’t really grow up with that stuff, you know?

@Lovely: I was into my best friend (at the time) for 3.5 years … drummer, guitarist, lyricist, most optimistic (to the point of people unfollowing him on Twitter because he made them feel about about themselves) person that I’ve ever met. So, just kind of a humanized version of perfection. Although, that was 7th grade to halfway through sophomore year, and my tastes have changed (just a little bit) as my angsty side has slowly dissipated :P.

Dream guy: Bookworm. Extremely nerdy (science, math, Pokemon, LoL, WoW, anything). Smarter than me. Still artsy. Quiet, but not necessarily shy. Witty. Not clingy. Not afraid of his feelings. Confident.

But, truly, I only want 3 things:

1) Someone who makes me laugh. A lot. Because I laugh at almost everything, this isn’t hard to find.
2) Someone whom I can learn a lot from (in general … whether it’s being more open, tackling BioShock, or just … being cool, haha)
3) Someone whom I don’t get tired of talking to

How many classes did you guys put for the “not shown on transcript” and awards section? I think I put too many o.o

Also, results come out on the… 15th? Phew, after the ACT test getting 34-35s on practice test on the red book ;3 28 - > 35 would be so awesome

@MobiusUno and everyone else: A lot of you are mind readers and cheaters lol
I really love STEM in general. I plan on having my own civil/mech. engineering firm. I want to build iconic figures and be apart of something that’s bigger than all of us. I want to help people and spread the importance of STEM on a literal and personal level. Discovering STEM really put the puzzle pieces of a large part of my life together; I found who I really was and what genuinely interested me. Also, during college I hope to participate in Engineers Without Borders, where you go around the world understanding and helping rebuild communities. Both MIT and WUSTL have these programs. Bringing me to the next point, I not only want to be a bomb.com engineer, but also a well rounded person. Learning truly interests me, and it’s exciting to share with others; this is part of the reason I’d like to attend WUSTL.

Once I have established my own little empire (lol) I want to give back to schools and communities in general. I am contemplating on how exactly I want to give back. There are just so many ways, most that are probably unrealistic. For example, I wanted to open schools around the world for select students. However, I’d be doing the same thing that all programs do; limiting and listing who is worth it or not. I don’t think I’d have the heart to do that. I also would like to become a professor around retirement time. There is just so much that I want to do during my time on this Earth that it’s frustrating. Idk maybe I’m just crazy.

guise, so how come there aren’t that many people on CC posting for MITES? While there is like 1800+ applicants… It’s so strange eh?

@Lovelylily28 I had a crush on this boy that was a grade lower. In my defense, I skipped a grade. After one conversation, I wanted to kill myself. First, I couldn’t understand what he was saying because of his vernacular. I was a bit okay until he didn’t understand what I was saying. I am not mean, but my dreams are just crushed. Smh In conclusion, intelligence is what is important.

@Nashia: Crazy is admirable. So is ambition. That’s definitely a lot to accomplish, but at least you have time to figure out what’s most important to you :).

@Alpha: Nah. Most of them probably don’t know about CC, or they purposely stay off of it :P.

night guys!

Wow guys…

I leave for a couple of hours to my Bible study and I’ve missed so much I don’t even know where to join in :P
