<p>How do you guys know it’s the 15th? I looked on the site where it says mid-April.</p>
<p>Someone here emailed MITES, and if I remember correctly they said that the email response said they would release decisions before or on April 15th, but most likely the 15th.</p>
<p>Oh. I swear, I miss a couple of hours and I miss all the super important information.</p>

<p>Another lurker here! Although I doubt I’m going to surprise you all with an acceptance lol.</p>
<p>I was made fun of in middle school not only for being “white” but also for trying to be “black”. I really wanted to fit in at my school (which had a lot of minorities) and I figured being like them was the answer. I later realized that that was pretty dumb and started doing my own thing. I may have been called an oreo throughout middle school, but I got the chance to meet some truly amazing people.</p>
<p>I find it amazing that I’m able to share stuff like this with you guys. A lot of the people at my school that take the same classes as me are either “brown” or asian and aren’t really able to relate. If only we all went to the same school. Or better yet, accepted to MITES!</p>
<p>I still don’t really know what I want to do after college; I’m still kind of torn between physics and engineering. If I decide to go into physics, then I’ll definitely be doing research. I’ve been absolutely obsessed with quantum mechanics and particle physics since last year (I currently have an awesome schrodinger’s cat wallpaper on my computer lol).</p>

<p>I also play MMO’s (Guild Wars 2, SWTOR, primarily)… I’m a huge fan of simulators like SimCity and Civilization V. Call of Duty, Battlefield 3, and Assassins Creed are my favorite action/shooter type games.</p>

<p>@Alpha/Rivstein: I… don’t play PC games. Or many video games, for that matter… I have a Wii and that’s about it (Nintendo4Lyfe). Most of my time-wasting comes from tumblr, FIRST scouting, and/or YouTube.</p>
<p>Oh, and my personal experience… I’m an African by birth - Ghanaian, to be exact. My parents have always pushed me to excel, and so I don’t act according to sterotype whatsoever. Of course, the general community is like, “What, why don’t you act ‘black’” and I’m like, “What”
So yeah, terms like “oreo” or “blasian” became pretty common, and a lot of people just know me as that smart black kid who’s really into science. But I want to succeed regardless of my race; something like that just shouldn’t matter.
So yeah, I want to be a neuroscientist or biomedical engineer. Definitely more of a neuroscientist, though. :)</p>
<p>So I definitely haven’t talked about my experience. I thought this convo would pass…</p>
<p>I am blexican with Cherokee and German. However, I am pale. I have been called every race except Asian. When I was younger I was put in a private school where they were very prejudice towards my family and I. This included faculty and administration. From then on I was placed in public schools with majority blacks. Besides the stereotypical jokes about me being Mexican, people don’t care. Then again, my high school is different. I have been with the same kids since freshman year due to the fact my school is only three years old. I just wish I was exposed to more diversity and different cultural perspectives, besides within my family.</p>
<p>By “girls like you” I was referring to girls attracted to your description of a “dream guy.” It makes me feel good about myself. Jk, I learned how awesome I am a long time.</p>

<p>Also, I still kinda have the lost hope. Long story short, I know a smart, nerdy, video game playing, pompous jerk; and nobody irritates me as much as he does. And no it has nothing to do with jealousy (before somebody says that). </p>
<p>There’s more lurkers than I expected lol. </p>
<p>And I’ve noticed that many of don’t have highly differing goals. You guys make me want to go to MITES even more, there’s no people like you in my school D’:</p>
