I don’t know how many. The possibility was addressed in their FAQ, but this could have been new this year:

  1. Is there a waitlist? After careful review of applications through the selection process, some students may be placed on a waitlist. If applicants have the ability to be on the MITES/MOSTEC waitlist, they will have been notified through the admissions decision letter on their application portal. We regret that we are unable to add applicants to the waitlist who were not assigned to the waitlist through the selection process.

Yea originally on the FAQ it said that there was no waitlist for either program but after I emailed them because my letter aid I was waitlisted they made the change to the FAQ to say that there is a waitlist his year. So yes if you are on the waitlist you could still get admitted. We’ll know by May 1st the latest.

Unfortunately, I didn’t get off the waitlist and they said they will notify others by Friday, May 11th. Don’t know why

D19 was admitted to MOSTEC from the waitlist. Doesn’t make sense to do MOSTEC instead of CMU SAMS, especially since MOSTEC has the same conflict with school start date.

Alright sorry for the late response @zanabou thanks for the congratulations, I got into the Mites program, as for my stats at the time I only had PSATs which I got a 1440 on and my GPA is a 4.0. But honestly I truly believe stats only played a small portion in the whole thing. I think the most important things were definitely the recommendations and essays(especially the essays). I don’t really know if this helps at all lol but anyway if they said they’ll contact you again on the 14th you still have a chance so good luck.

Did anyone who was still on the waitlist after May 1st hear anything back yet? That email said the next update would be by today (May 11) at the latest, but my son hasn’t heard anything.

@september202017 @BirdintheHand I did get an email yesterday around 2:20pm saying that I was accepted to MOSTEC.

I don’t think anyone else will get accepted to MITES, because there might not be room.

Also, @BirdintheHand and @september202017, when did you confirm your spot on the waitlist? I know that acceptances from the waitlist are on a rolling basis. I clicked yes right when I got my decision, so that might have played a role.

Anyway, I hoping the best for everyone on the waitlist!

He confirmed his spot immediately, but he didn’t reply to the May 1 email since it said just to let them know if you wanted to be removed from the waitlist.

I got off the waitlist yesterday! Accepted to MOSTEC! I responded a couple hours later that I accepted the offer. I too would love to know if there’s a running group chat :slight_smile:
