MITES 2021

Hey all! The MIT Minority Introduction to Engineering and Science program application will be opening within the coming days, so I thought it’d be a good time to begin a thread!

This is definitely my top choice of a program, so I’m very scared about applying!! It seems like such an amazing program. I feel nervous even typing this!

My stats are a 3.8 GPA with an upward trend, hopefully around a 1520 SAT by the time of the application (taking it December), GPA awards, CTF placings, school award in leadership, Quiz Bowl National Championship qualification, CMU SAMS, girl STEM club presidency, community service club vice presidency, FRC team programming position, research in VR, instructor position for a non-profit teaching Python, USC summer program, and a board position for a theatre festival. I’ve seen so many people with perfect GPAs and SATs/ACTs, so that’s scaring me a whole bunch.

How are you all feeling?

R.I.P MITES 2021, looks like only MOSTEC will run this year

I really hope it runs. Where did you read this?

wow, I was thinking of applying for mites too but you got a lot more to show that I do lol. I got a 4.0 unweighted gpa and a psat score around the 1400s. I’ve also taken a crap ton of ap and dual enrollment classes but that’s pretty much it. Tempest might be referring to the fact that if you press apply information on the mites website only the mostec application shows up.

@Arc0926

Seems like Tempest is right. There’s a little paragraph on the website saying MITES isn’t going to run. I was going to apply for MOSTEC anyway, but it’s disappointing as I really wanted to do MITES.
