Mmc Theatre

I just found out that I was accepted into MMC. However, I am really anxious to find out if I got into the theatre arts (performance tracK) and Musical theatre minor. Does anyone know how long it takes to get your acceptance letter. Also, exactly how competitive is the theatre arts program?

They said it was like two weeks for admission, but they have to wait after all the auditions for your BFA acceptance. I'm auditioning there on Feb. 18th. How was your experience?

Im not going to lie, it was extremely intimidating. Im the type of person who would rather perform in front of 1000 people than 5 though. Everyone was really really nice and it was good to meet the kids. Im a senior in high school and everyone else in my group either already went to mmc, or was transferring from conservatories. I just felt extremely out of my league. Even though my audition wasnt that good, it made it really clear that mmc was where I wanted to go, because I got to get a little taste of what its like to be a student and to live in the city. One thing that I wish I had known was that if you have a ligit and a belt voice, then you should have a song for each of those. And if you dont have both, then you just sing your best 18 bars. They are really short on time so you really need to have your very best. Also, they cut you off at exactly 2 minutes on the monolgue, so make sure you dont go over, so you have finish it strong. Hope this helps.

GOOD LUCk

I just interviewed/auditioned...I thought it was great how everything was conducted as a class. Only a few people did interesting people/characters. However, they really want to see YOU in your audition...they don't want you to "act" the piece, but to just speak your monologue honestly. They DON'T want anything theatrical. They sometimes would have those people do their pieces again, but ask them to tone it down. So, don't fall for that trap! Be honest/truthful and show yourself!

I auditioned here in Texas at a mass college audition where about 50 different colleges were there for theatre. Marymount happened to be there, saw me, and accepted me right there! Fo the program audition, did you guys have to dance at all? At that mass audition, all we did was sing and perform a monologue.

Hello, I am new to this and see that the last post was in April. Is everybody somewhere else? Let me know and I will follow you. My D was just accepted into MMC for fall '08 and will audition for theatre/mt in January. I have some questions.
