Some of you might not have heard of Mock Convention, but it goes on every 4 years at W&L for the party out of power. A political convention is held, somewhat similar to the Democrat/Republican nominating conventions over the summer, to predict the eventual party nominee. Students are not required to be of one political party or another. Mock Con is non-partisan in nature and is intended to be a learning experience. The Mock Con just concluded this year. It is a multi-year effort, and a good portion of the students participate. You don’t have to be interested in politics to join in, but if you are a politico, it is a great experience. This years convention was written up in the NY Times and the student leaders were interviewed today on CNBC’s closing bell. More info is on the W&L website, but mock con is something that is very unique to W&L.
