Any mock trial nerds out there? What are your cases/roles this year? When does your competition start (or has it already ended)? And what state are you from?

Hey me too! Our competition is in late Feb, though.

You’re a defense AND prosecution trial attorney? At our school everyone’s either on defense or prosecution, and then you can be trial atty, pre-trial, or witness. Or bailiff or clerk…

So is your school too small for you to field a full team, as it were? Did you guys have tryouts? Don’t really want to say county for confidentiality reasons but it’s not the same as yours. :)

We actually have a 23 person team, but some people (like me) have 2 parts. The coaches run 2 evenings of tryouts before each season. Our program is rather successful, so about 50-60 kids try out each year.

I wonder if I’ll run into some CC member when we do our run of scrimmages starting on MLK weekend. That’ll be interesting, provided I can ask the question without sounding too awkward.

So are a bunch of the other 23 ppl alternates then? For us there’s a a bailiff, a time-keeper, 3 defense trial attys, 3 prosecution trial attys, a pre-trail atty for each side, and 4 witnesses per side. So in total we have 18 people plus like 3 or 4 alternates.

We have tryouts and then callbacks.
Did you guys do it before? What do you think of this year’s case?

We have 5 people on pre-trial (and of course, we’ll pick 2 (or even 1) to compete). We have 4 trial attorneys (2 of us are going both sides). Our bailiff and clerk are 2 different people and we have 7 people playing 8 witness roles. Most of the extras are either on pretrial or are backups for witnesses.

We just have one round of tryouts for the new people. Our team actually has a LONG, LONG history (a lot of county championships (too lazy to go check our shirt) and 3 state championships). I liked People v. Bratton more than I do this year’s case just because 2 of this year’s witnesses are whiny 13-year-olds. But we just have to deal with what CRF gives us.

I’ve probably given away so much info on our team. You could probably figure out who we are by doing a simple Google search. :P

I’m the prosecution pre-trial attorney and bailiff. Competition starts this Wednesday and prosecution is up first. I’m slightly nervous…any advice for people who have pre-trial attorneys before, either prosecution/defense?

State: Illinois
Case: People v. Grey
Role: Cross-Examiner for Prosecution and Defense (plus I wrote everyone’s stuff :))
Competition: Regional tournament next week; State is beginning of March

I’m in California too! Pretrial attorney for the defense and expert witness for the prosecution. All of your teams sound insanely good though - I just started ours this year (yikes). I think we have enough talent to do well locally, but we’d be absolutely annihilated by a team like yours, pi kid. We only have 12 kids total hahah, so almost everyone has two parts.

I’m the pretrial attorney for both defense and prosecution. We’ve got our final competition tomorrow night (besides semi-finals, finals, . . .) against our toughest opponent. Should be interesting. Working on my defense statement right now and I felt like searching mock trial on CC would be break-worthy!
