I want to sign up my school's debate club for a few model congresses, but I just have one question. My school is consistently low on funding, and I notice that the schools often offer accommodations in the form of hotel rooms, food, etc... I'm just wondering how much that costs per delegate? I have to report these costs to the club's advisor and registration deadlines are looming towards us...

Just in case you're wondering, we've been looking for the fees for Princeton Model Congress, Yale Model Congress, Harvard Model Congress, and Columbia (we already have close contact with the people running that one). If there are any other model congresses you guys know about, it would be greatly appreciated.

We're not interested in model UN's though (so that rules out Fordham, NYU, and a few others)

Right, but we still want to know how much the costs are before we register because there is only so much we can expect the members of the club to pay. And how much did that usually come to per person?

We did all of it. My school buys candy like a beast. You can sell a box of 50 in 2 days max.

And one of the kids in MUN’s mom took candy to her job and apparently it sells a doozy there and that girl ended up paying for like half of everyone’s trip xD

My school asks kids to pay the fees individually, and if you’re on financial aid for tuition then you qualify to ask the school to pay the fees for you. I’m in Model UN, and the entrance fees for local conferences were between $15-30, and when we traveled, we shared hotel rooms and split the cost so it ended up being about $30 extra. We’re looking to go to New York this year, though, which is hundreds of dollars towards plane tickets and of course the hotels are going to be a lot more expensive.

Figure out which conferences you’re going to first, though, because the fees are different for all of them. And remember, bake sales aren’t your only source of income- you can sell stuff like water bottles and bracelets too. Have a t-shirt available for club members to buy so that you end up making profit off of each shirt sold.

Local model congresses aren’t really a problem, we are pretty close to some high schools in neighboring districts. And I’m not sure what you mean by financial aid and tuition? I go to a public high school and there’s absolutely NO WAY they would help pay haha. At this point I just want to see how much it costs to attend Princeton Model Congress, mainly because our advisor wants to know how much we need to fundraise. I was able to find out the delegation fees for all of the other model congresses we’re interested in.
