I'm a junior in high school and my current state residency is in California but Clemson is my DREAM school. It has everything I want and more in a college but I'm afraid I have little, or no, chance of getting in. My GPA as of now is 3.2 and I have yet to receive my SAT scores. the first two years of high school I completely checked out due to personal issues going on in my family and my grades dropped from straight A's to D's and F's. Now that I have my head screwed on right I've brought them all back up to A's and B's but I'm still afraid it won't be enough to bring my grades up to Clemson standards. On the plus side I've been involved in a ton of extracurricular's since 7th grade til now, mainly in music, writing, theatre, community service, and church. Is that something they would look highly on? Would I be able to get in with a lower grade? What are my chances? I'm so afraid

you’re going to need to do really well on your SAT score. Grades dropping is one thing but D’s/F’s are not good. You can probably explain on your application though if you had family issues and if your grades are back up then that’s good. You can definitely get in with a low GPA but you’d have to continue to get A’s/B’s (preferably more A’s), get a good SAT/ACT score. Good luck!
