moderately crappy score- worth retaking?

I got a 690 on the verbal and a 700 on the math. combined- 1390. Is this worth retaking? I know I can do better as long as they don't give us a crap verbal section again and I'm careful on the math. But I am taking the new SAT as well. and that is a lot easier t oget a good grade on (less evil tricks). I want this score to maybe help me get some scholarships to some schools ( I think some will even give me a free ride). Any suggestions?

1390 is hawt. How is that bad? Most boards would tell ya to smoke some pot and drink some liquor (cause they told me w/ a 1400 to do that :p)... cause you will get accepted if you have a rockstar GPA and did many other exciting things.

well it sux cuz that is very close to my minimum SAT score. It has been up to a 1460 before. and some colleges care about 70 points for some reason.

just below 1400... can't beleive it

my sat was a 1240 and im chillaxin'... retaking for a 1450 in December though cause I totally freaked out in the middle of it. Im a horrible standardized test taking, except with a solid 4.0 in all AP... go figure. :p

I am sure you are set for almost any college with that score, though.

yea. I'm just wondering if it is good enough to help in getting a great scholarship

BTW, does anyone know much about UT Dallas? my physics teacher said that would be an awqesome school u me

bumpity bumpers

I know how you feel about scholarships. I know my SAT (1410) is good enough to get me into most of my top choice schools (because I have other positive credentials), but it isn't good enough to get me the merit scholarships I need/want. If you want to be in the scholarship pool at most schools consider retaking it once (because your score will probably go up) so you can at least get a 1400 if you think that is a sure thing. My score went up every time I took the SAT, even without studying. So go for it!

do u think it is worth it if I think I can do better on the new SAT?

You know you don't hear the word chillaxin much on this board. I wonder why. Wait I know...

Most scholarships I've seen have cut-offs of 1300 and 1400. If you think you can get over 1400, go for it. But you'll be fine with your current score, I'm sure.
