um... should I retake Math II with a 780?

Uh... yeah... I got my SAT II scores today.

Math II - 780
Chemistry - 740 (not going to retake, really happy b/c I never took honors/AP Chem)

Will that 780 hurt my chances for schools such as Berkeley, UCLA, UCSD and Stanford etc...? Or should I stop freaking out? 20 points isn't THAT much...

Hell No
Are U Kidding

Honestly, 20 points from perfect? Stop complaining, that score is incredible and would help you wherever you apply. You know that, so please don't post something just to show off your scores.

Sorry, I didn't mean to show off or anything. It's just I hear people with like 750's who need to retake Math II and stuff, and all of this college stuff is starting to get to me... O_o

Oy Vey!! Calm Down and read this thread...Add your concern to the list!!

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/showthread.php?t=408115

I am actually thinking along the lines of the OP because I got a 770 and I am very unhappy.

what about a 750?

Oh please. I got a 710 on Math II back in June. I never considered retaking it. Anything 700+ can only help your application. Stop stressing.

Is this a joke? Or are people really so anal?

i wanna retake my chem. SOooooo screwed up. I mean, i guess i just can't take it without getting a 4.0 GPA and perfect SATiis. 780 as well.

But no, really, if you want to go to the top schools, you'll need w/e you can get to help you. Even an extra 2 hours volunteering at some book fair or hospital would help you.

And i aimed for a 800, but when i walked out i felt i just have a really slim chance of getting it (maybe about 1/5), i was really unhappy because i skipped 2 that i know how to do because they were just taking way too long. And my proctor started the timer when we weren't ready so i kinda lost 5 min there. With those extra 5 min i'm sure i can get that two right. And 1 more lucky right guess i'd have my 800.

and ANYTHING CAN HURT YOU if it's not as good IN COMPARISION to the other applicants. Know your math and how percentile works (tho i'm not really sure about the correlation between score/800) . I'm sure that 2 pct off the top (being the 97th instead of the 99th) would place at least like 50-100 ppl in front of you in the college waiting/accepting list. Average that out across the Ivies and you now just have 2 to maybe even 5 % less chance of getting into those schools. And even tho there aren't hard quotas, there are soft quotas, trust me.

Now, before flaming, i'd just like to acknowledge/admit that i already know my post is an invitation of the inflamation. And i didn't read the stickies either, sorry. (there's not really much anyways. ) so, come right in and express your opinion. Lets just at least pretend that we're still intelligent tho.

And yea, sorry again, just not too happy that i didn't get an 800, even though this was well expected...

you want to retake it, retake it. you seem to know the answer to your question

I had a 760 on Physics and it kept nagging me mentally for quite some time. I didnt want to leave anything to chance, so I retook it when I was confident of 800, which I got on the October SAT.
