Yeah, I know the french came outta nowhere haha.

Could you please tell me a little about the teachers, classes, how students like it, etc. for each of those majors? I'm having a really hard time deciding because I'm also going on the Pre-Med track so I have to take some classes in addition to what is required for each major.

Also, specifically for French, is it hard for a COMPLETE beginner to do well? (I know this is in relation to everyone, just wondering if the courses are beginner-friendly or if the classes assume you have some background).

do you mean majoring in french as a complete beginner? I don’t see why you would want to do that. there is a four-semester sequence of courses before you can take FREN 215, which is the gateway course for all upper level classes, and declaring a major. so I think it’d be almost impossible to declare a french major unless you took a class over the summer.

I haven’t taken many science classes but I do have some friends that are premed, so I know that MB&B, NSB and bio are all very (well, relatively) easy to do with a premed curriculum. while I’m sure many premed people major in psych, there’s less overlap there. you don’t really need to worry about what you want to major now, but you should make sure you’re on track with premed courses your first year. seek out premed advising.

I know the math major doesn’t require too many credits, and you could take graduate-level classes. I liked the one math class/professor I had.

MB&B, NSB, and Bio all have a lot of reqs compared to most majors at Wesleyan, but a lot of those are ones you’d need to be pre-med anyway.

Math is pretty lax on requirements - I think you need about 10 classes. I double majored with Sociology and still had plenty of room for random electives.
