Mom of bride or groom dress suggestions 2021-2022

Yes, thanks. Very nice but too dark. Navy blue is probably the only darker color I would consider at this point if It can’t find a nice pastel. I like light blue and pink the most . Looking forward to seeing @bhs1978 and @BunsenBurner possibilities, choices!

@CollegeNerd67 gave some great suggestions. The officiant at my D’s wedding wore a similar dress to the first one she linked. I also have a friend who wore the long one with the jersey on top to a wedding. She shortened it to tea length.
I think the Adrianna Papell you linked at Dillards is beautiful for Mom of bride or groom.

I just ordered the Adrianna Papell dress from Dillard’s in two different sizes. I sent the link this afternoon to DIL, asked her if she thought it was too light, would it work with her colors, etc. Her response “ohh I love!” She sent me a picture of the flowers they are considering and they are lovely and delicate (pastel pink, yellow, blue, green, purple, orange). Will let you know if the dress works out. I’m going to hold off on ordering anything else until I see if this will work. I did order the pink floral a day or so ago from Nordstrom and might wear it for the rehearsal dinner if I like it when it arrives. Thanks to all of you for your help and support!

These are presumably the colors kid wants to stick to in her wedding palette. I told her that I would do my best to fit in. But no forest green for me.

I love this one…it’s formal enough to me, but some fun too. I think it would be great for your wedding

Friend wore a blush dress to her daughter’s wedding…and even though the colors were close, both looked terrific in person and in the pics.

Ok, my daughter said yes to the dress yesterday (not my favorite but not my decision, and of course she’ll be a lovely bride), wedding to be in November of 2023 so a long time from now. About 100 people, noonish, venue selected. She and her 5 bridesmaids (no MOH or best man) picked “velvet dresses in a dusty rose color.” I am not shopping yet; it’s almost two years from now! But I am sure I can find something. One problem is that I have truly terrible, huge feet and wear very plain black men’s (size 11; women’s size 13) black sneakers every day in the cold weather or black men’s Ortho-Feet sandals in the summer. I get away with a long shirt or short dress with compression leggings with more formal occasions (oh, and did I say that I have to wear compression legwear?). I guess I could survive wearing plain flats (hard to find in my size) but of course my feet are SO BIG! I will come seeking advice starting a year from now, I guess! Meanwhile it’s fun to read about all your upcoming weddings and look at some of the links. I was inspired by the Cocktail Dresses - JS Collections link that I will be able to find something my daughter and the mother of the groom won’t hate me for!

Oh, just to add: I used to be 5’10"; I think I have shrunk to around 5’6". I have broad shoulders (big bones, they used to say) and I used to be a lot fatter than I am but I am no skinny minny!

Here’s another one I really like. It comes in several different colors including pale spring colors.
I love the lavender colored one

Thanks. The blush and hydrangea colors are very pretty too.

@BunsenBurner Very nice colors. Is there one of the colors that you like best? What colors have you been looking at for your dress?

I like it too, especially with the blingy necklace shown in the photos.

Maybe this is a case where you should find shoes FIRST and then pick your MOB outfit (it doesn’t have to be a dress!) based on a shoe that suits you both comfort and “style!

That’s a good idea. I actually have done the “shoes first” dress shopping method, even though my feet are size 8. It allows me to have comfortable shoes I love. Also it’s much easier to bring (or wear) shoes to a dressing room than it would be to visualize a purchased dress at the shoe department.

I let the bridal party have first dibs on the colors. The young women all quickly got raspberry colored dresses. I’m stuck with beige, lol!

As MOG? :joy:

I say it all the time - “Wear beige and keep your mouth shut”

sorry BB!

I have a friend who is shopping and will probably want some sort of palazzo pant. I’ve been trying to help her look online, but a lot of that style seems matronly to me. She is heavy, so prefers something on her arms. Lots are three piece sets with a tank and then jacket, but again - seem matronly.

I’m the MOB! I told my kid that I will wear whatever I want. She gave me two thumbs up because she trusts my taste (she periodically shops my closet, lol).

I did not think this one felt matronly. It has a nice flow. https://www.macys.com/shop/product/r-m-richards-3-pc.-lace-top-jacket-pants?ID=12931264
