Mom of bride or groom dress suggestions 2021-2022

What’s nice about that color is that almost anything will go with it. If there are wedding colors, you can play around with them. Or for an outdoor picnic, lemon yellow or mint green would be refreshing.

@GRITS80 I got lots of compliments at my son’s wedding last week, particularly about the blue mist color. It is a very simple, comfortable dress, but classic. I dressed it up with pearls, and had my hair done in a chignon bun (which also got lots of compliments). It was a great dress for the outdoor, very elegant setting and I am very glad I did not go the beaded or sparkly route. Lots of floral dresses worn by the mostly younger crowd. People seemed to like the pink floral WAYF dress I wore for the rehearsal dinner also. I am relieved that all went well with my dresses. Thanks to all for the support!

Ordered the Macy’s in pewter and a French navy rhinestones strappy heels from Dillards. Thank you for all the suggestions! I studied them a lot and it helped with ideas.

rockymtnhigh2 - love that jumpsuit! I wore a red one to an event recently - they are so comfy and flattering! I bet it looks beautiful on. Plus the ankle length will let you show off the shoes! I like platforms for a bit of a dressy look + comfort, personally.

OK so the jumpsuit is rather plain- like a blank canvas. I plan on wearing flashy pewter or navy rhinestone shoes. I tried a necklace but that does not work. My hair is the length of brushing the shoulders. Earring suggestions? Bracelets? Nail color? any ideas of hair, nails, earrings, rings, necklace, or bracelets will be entertained.

With that jumpsuit, the necklace has to be a statement necklace- long and dangling one, a la Chanel chains. Kind of like this. Just not at that price!

Then no earrings. A matching bracelet- yes. IMO.

More affordable long dangling silver sparkly necklaces:

Perhaps something that falls in a triangle to fill the space between the neckline and the pleats going to the waist. Obviously not these at those prices, but to get a general idea of how it would look:

Would you choose a necklace over dangling earrings and a bracelet?

I wouldn’t. I love earrings - I have several piercings in my ears and love to curate the various earrings and coordinate them in what I think are interesting ways. I usually end up with something dangly and asymmetrical, especially when I’m wearing a simple neckline since as your gorgeous jumpsuit.

I tend to “play” with my necklaces so I often go with bracelets so I fidget less.

I think the jumpsuit calls for a necklace and you also pick up with the sparkly nature of the shoes.

I think - as with most fashion decisions - it depends a bit on your comfort level and body type. Do you like bracelets? Would your shoulder-length hair cover your earings so they wouldn’t be seen? Do you enjoy wearing belts?

I’ve never been able to like/feel comfortable w/necklaces for some reason. They slide around and kind of irritate my neck LOL (maybe more $$ ones would not cause that!). And I just can’t seem to get the right look (it’s often distracting).

Although it’s plain, I love the structure of your pants suit. It’s got a lot going on with the pleats and cap sleeves - very chic and elegant.

If you liked it, I’d consider a sparkly, rectangular, largish clutch (to match shoes) and a sparkly, large bracelet and dangling earings. That will provide interest and be eye-catching - without distracting from you.

A sparkly belt might also be an option:

I like the idea of a necklace with this pantsuit, too @soozievt .
I had a wrist corsage for my son’s wedding a couple of weeks ago. No bracelet, but did wear a pearl necklace.

I had not thought of a small belt. Also, would I get a pinned or wrist corsage? I’m sure D2 does not know that yet. At D1’s wedding it was a pinned small flower corsage. Forgot about that.

I do tend to like long earrings (wear contacts) and a bracelet. Not sure if I will wear my hair up or down. Probably down.

My small clutch (new) is canvas like with royal blue frogs trimmed in silver and leather and is a playful one. I found it the other day in my closet. It looks really good with the jumpsuit. I bought it in Japan (hand made) when D2 was there a semester in grad school, so pretty special.

I would personally prefer a wrist corsage. The ones pinned on my clothes tend to pull down the garment…and I don’t like that. Plus…it’s easy to take the wrist one off after the pictures are done.

At our wedding, both MOB and MOG didn’t want corsages at all. We got wrist ones for the grands.

We weren’t asked about corsages. They just showed up! It was a wrist corsage , definitely wouldn’t have wanted a pinned corsage. The flowers were pretty with a lovely silk ribbon.i didn’t mind it!

I’m glad that kid asked my opinion about corsages and that we have a similar opinion: just no.

My personal opinion is that large statement necklaces are not as popular right now as a layered delicate look.

I would wear earrings and a bracelet. The photo with the small belt looks very nice
