I am out of state from Florida, if that helps!

I think you have a great shot at full tuition. Pitt has never disclosed the actual threshold, to my knowledge. But one of the parents who posts on this board said that a Pitt admissions person said in an information session that 1450 was needed. So, if that hasn't changed, money will be coming your way! Fingers crossed!

I was the parent who posted the information about the 1450 (CR & M) on the SAT needed for a full tuition scholarship. Yes, my daughter and I were specifically told during a two-on-one session that a 1450 was the minimum for a full tuition scholarship. That was early this year, so things may have changed, but I would also say that you stand an excellent chance of getting a full tuition scholarship - or at least a $10,000 annual scholarship.

Pitt is making a determined effort to get out-of-state students, so being from Florida is a good thing here.

Don't know what Pitt will be doing this year until they start sending out the scholarship offers. With the economy as it is, I wonder if they will be cutting back on the scholarships this year. I don't believe they updated they Common Data Set for financial aid for 2008-2009 yet.

Last year with a score of 1450 (CR & math), you stood a very good chance of getting some type of scholarship.

Not to be a downer on the money issue...but...I remembered a student who goes to Ithaca College on a full ride Park Scholars School of Communication scholarship once posting that she got various offers from different schools, but got nothing from Pitt. I looked up her stats from an old post and asked her about it. She said she was kind of shocked also that she didn't get anything. Her stats from the post were:

SAT 2210 CR 800 M 650 W 760 ---so that means she had a 1450 CR and M. Her GPA was 4.2 weighted and she had 4 AP's with all 4's and 5's. YIKES! She's from PA and her screen name is Hamturo Fan if you'd like to look it up. I've been following all this info because my daughter is a junior interested in Pitt possibly and I'd like to know how the merit money is given out, etc. Seeing her stats was kind of a shock. She said she thought it had to do with the fact that she rushed her application and essay and didn't spend enough time on them. By the time she did the Park Scholars application/essays she took her time and did a great job.

So, in conclusion, it doesn't look like having a 1450 or above guarantees anything unfortunately. She didn't even get ANY money. I wish all of you the best of luck though, I'm not trying to discourage anyone.

Pitt has never specified exactly what stats will get you full tuition or partial scholarship thus don't be surprised if you don't receive an offer. I recall other students with great stats (above 1450 SAT) who didn't get a scholarship offer. If you get one, be thankful and congratulations!

I just got my full tuition offer today and my SATs are 1350/2080 :P but I got a 33 on my ACTs, so I guess that's roughly equivalent. Don't hold yourself to that 1450 barrier, because it is obviously "beatable"

closeyboy39: Pitt definitely takes the ACT score and converts it to the SAT equivalent. I think the 31 ACT equals 1350 SAT so your 33 would be around 1450. And don't forget your ec's and your class rank plays a part of the entire equation. Congratulations on your scholarship!
