So now I enrolled at the University of Scranton with no aid or merit money what so ever. I will get benefits from my fathers military service but it only covers 365 days. Also the most I could get is 17,000. This means I'm going to have to take out loans. Now I don't want to come out of college with 100,000 dollars in debt. Especially if I can't find a job. I'm hoping to apply to med school but I don't know if I could get in. The reason being I'm going to Scranton is because 80% of their students (average) who apply to med school get into at least one. That and they don't require a foreign language to graduate. So now when i enrolled they gave me an aid package were they said they will pay 1/2 of my school. After enrolling and declining my acceptances from other schools like St. Josephs College in Brooklyn, Wagner College, and the City College of New York, they start taking money away. So now whats the best option for me? Should I only go for a year then transfer to a State college? Should I not go at all and enroll at St. Josephs which is much cheaper 18,000? Should I instead transfer to a bigger school like Fordham with more credibility then Scranton? Should I just go to a community college give up on medicine and get a city job? What should I do?!!!?

Are you saying that Scranton gave you a dollar amount in writing and now they are taking it away?

yep in their financial aid package they send, but it could change they said. But it changed by a lot

Columbia09- I had posted on your previous thread regarding FA being pulled and no merit. Check this site. It will be blocked on CC, so mixing in name of website. First word is college, second word is data and last is .com. Look up the U and use the grid to see what others in your gpa and sat range may have received in merit. Not everyone posts but many do and it might give you a feel for what the U was offering. I thought the drop in FA was quite substantial and as mentioned in previouse post, you need to investigate to determine what exactly changed in the financial picture to have that much of a reduction. Second, if you cannot afford Scranton, Fordham is not cheaper if boarding. It was a #2 choice for my S and while he received some merit, not enough to make it go and U of S was a much better financial situation and he really loves the school too so worked out. You may PM me if you want more info and to discuss in more detail.
