Each year Montclair does host 2 “Theater Days” which are open house days focused on Montclair’s Department of Theater and Dance. One is usually scheduled during the fall semester, the other during spring semester, to coincide with their departments mainstage productions. The next Theater Day is March 4.
This is a terrific opportunity for those applying, or thinking about applying, to Montclair’s BFA programs. Many events take place on Theater Days, including meeting and talking with professors and current students, you have the opportunity to take a Masterclass in either voice, dance, acting, or stage combat (you get to choose your masterclass). You can also go on a Theater themed campus tour. Additionally all participants get complimentary tickets to see a student performance at the Kasser Theater (a matinee) and a talk back with the cast after the show. My S went to Montclair’s Theater Day two years ago (He saw 42nd Street). While the kids were taking the masterclasses the parents got to speak with the department head, Clay James, and ask questions. This was a great way to see the department up close, without having the stress of auditions.
