It is well know that last year exhibited the lowest acceptance rates at most universities due to the largest graduating class ever. While the graduating class this year is smaller (meaning, in theory, the acceptance rates should be a tad higher), more people are applying to state and public schools due to the failing economy. For example, my school: SUNY Binghamton (with a 39% acceptance rate) already received 50% more ED applications. So, it might be a little easier to make expensive private universities, harder to get into less expensive but well-reputed state schools (UVa, Binghamton, UMich, etc...)

As far as transfer rates go, though, I think these few years are as tough as it gets. In theory, most people applying for Ivy transfers are the top of the last year's [largest ever] graduating class. We are the people who [hopefully] JUST didn't make it by a little. So, hypothetically, this year is as tough as it has ever been for transfer admissions.

Opinions welcome.

PS: This means nothing, since most of us will still do our best to transfer regardless of chances. I just thought it was curious to ponder. Those that really deserve to attend a better school will almost undoubtedly make it. Best of luck!
