Does anyone know if we get any more information/paperwork before we report June 28th???

JL2010 - I BELIEVE we're done until I-Day. Wheelah44 and others said we MAY get some info just prior to reporting but, as for anymore docs to send in, we should be good to go.

Don't forget to take copies of all paperwork with you I-Day, especially shot records. Word is there is always someone whose paperwork was misplaced, incomplete, whatever.

See you all soon! GO NAVY! :D

Hi wvdad, your post made me think of this. When we visited the Academy my son was in 8th or 9th grade and we went to an admissions briefing on a Friday afternoon in late September so we were the only people in the briefing. The admissions officer (who was in the civil service I think) would not start the briefing until both of my sons turned around and thanked us - their parents. He said that most parents of candidates put in a much greater amount of effort, work, support, help and so on than parents of kids who go to a non SA school.

You mentioned photocopying of paperwork (which I especially dislike - but will do anyway) and I remembered that man in admissions. He's not there anymore, I think. Good luck to your daughter and remember to be proud (and thankful) of your own contibutions to her success and the fine person she has turned out to be.

I should add that we're just starting the candidate process for my son for the class of 2011. He'll be at NASS this summer. Did your daughter go to NASS?

i have yet another question--kinda on this topic, so i'll double up. will we get any kind of confirmation back when the $2500 deposit is paid?

if you did it online then you get a receipt automatically and the lack of 2500 in your bank account.

We did not make copies of any paperwork except the shot records. Are we in trouble?

You can get a duplicate of the packet off the CIS website, if you are worried that something may have been lost. Twenty two years as a navy wife has taught me to make copies of everything, but it probably won't be needed. I would call the admissions office to see if they have everything and ask if (maybe? pretty please?) they could send you a copy of what you submitted.

Hey, it is worth a try!

fergs: i sent $500 in from a local scholarship, $1000 from a coverdell education fund, and $1000 from savings/education bonds. do you think it would be a good idea to call and make sure everything has been received?

I've tried the link for the Permit to Report packet numerous times on CIS, and each time it's led me to that "Forbidden" page. Anyone else having the same problem?

I don't NEED the link...I would just expect it to atleast work.

I get the "forbidden" page as well.

I also get the forbidden page.

couldn't hurt to call and check.

I can't log onto CIS, it won't accept my username and password which is really ticking me off. can anyone help me out?

Happy Memorial Day to all! :D

I hope most are able to spend time with family and friends. I'm working today but had a nice 4-day weekend and celebrated Sierra's high school graduation! (bitter-sweet)

Arthur Dent - Yes, Sierra attended NASS second session last summer. I will NEVER forget the glazed look on her, well most attendees faces. She was pretty worn out. But, I'm very glad she went because it gave her a "taste" of what to expect. We were watching a little video clip on the Academy the other night and she kept saying, "we did that, yep did that too". It was about two weeks after getting back that she came to me and said after much consideration she was positive the Academy was where she belonged.

As for those who DO NOT have copies of your paperwork, as others have mentioned, you may want to try contacting Admissions or your Regional Director.

I was told (and I THINK it stated it somewhere in the 10,456 pages we've filled out so far  ) to make two ( I made three, sorry a little OC) copies of everything. Bring a complete copy of all documentation with you and file one away for your records. Several earlier posts about people showing up I-Day and this form or that is missing from their file.

Be sure to bring you Permit To Report documents! Sierra's almost got filed away - boy, talk about a myocranial infarction (brain fart in West Virginia!) ;)

Bring a copy of your birth certificate (in case you forgot to submit a copy with the MF-86? form), chaplain card and NCAA card.

To all graduating and soon to be graduating seniors - WAY TO GO! I'm proud of all of you. PLEASE becareful the next couple of weeks. I know you'll want to relish these last fleeting moments of freedom but, always keep in mind what lies ahead and don't do stupid stuff that may jeopardize your future.

Sis left for VA Beach this morning with one of her good friends. Guess I won't be sleeping much until she gets back Friday. Yeah, she's driving.

Be safe, have fun and may God always watch over you. :)

WVdad-

Congrats to your daughter on her graduation! You must be so proud (I understand well the bittersweet aspect).

Where will your daughter be in Virginia Beach? Maybe she can meet my darling daughter so they can connect before I day. I will send you a message with our contact info.

Thanks for the suggestions about paperwork. I hadn't thought of making a third copy. Will take care of that tomorrow.

Does anybody know if we get our company assignments before I-Day like past years?

I heard from a Napster that we should get them about a week before I-Day...atleast that's what he was told.

It's comin' down to the line here!

Hmm...here's another instance of trusting intuition.

I was going to go get copies of all my paperwork, but then my father said I could just scan them into the computer instead. I did that, then made a memo to myself to burn them onto a CD or print copies of everything. However, I decided to hit the hay early. The morning after I scanned in everything, the hard drive died.

BUT, I have the one sheet that I really want: shot records! I got my second shot in the Hep B series and the kind lady printed out a sheet of all my shots and dates. As long as I have that and my permit to report paper, I feel fine.

It would be nice if the online Permit to Report package worked, though. It'd be a pain in the southern hemisphere to fill out the SF-86(?) again.

Oh, it was. I filled one out last summer for NROTC, then had to enter all the info into a DoD computer program in January, my investigation began in Feb, and USNA makes me fill out another one in April.

Fun times.
