Most colleges require 2 teacher recommendations. However, if you have three teachers that absolutely love you, can you send three?

Some colleges will only read the required amount. If you send them three, they might only read "the top two." Some colleges even advise against it. And some colleges only require one teacher and one counselor. Again, it will not do you any good to get another teacher rec.

If you need help picking who to leave out, you may want to take into account their writing skills or what you want highlighted in your recs.

any more opinions?

Some colleges on the other hand promise to read everything you send them. It depends on the school.

If you think you need 3 to show different perspectives, then go ahead and send 3 if the college will read them. More than 3-4 isn't necessary, and won't really make a difference.

All of my teachers "loved" me. I only sent in two recommendations though because any third teacher wouldn't say anything outstandingly different from the first two.

I'd only send three if there's something only the third teacher can say (e.g. you're an amazing and you want your art teacher to say how great of an artist you are.)
