<p>No you don’t have to be in Scholars. They are two completely separate things.</p>
<p>No you do not have to be in honors or scholars. You need to be a minority or from certain geographical location (counties considered “appalachia.”) My daughter is white and from an appalachian county in Ohio. She received this scholarship. She also had to write an essay.</p>

<p>Are you from an under represented area? (like socioeconomically depressed?) It is a scholarship to promote diversity so there is probably something “diverse” about you if someone encouraged you to apply. I would ask for clarification and email the school if necessary.</p>
<p>I have done a lot of fund raising and community service for women in third world countries. Not sure if that is what they are looking at. Might be different this year with Ohio State using common application. Think more people will apply for scholarship because it asks you if you want to be considered for this scholarship.</p>
