I have heard a periah of languages as of date from all sources, and although duh I wasn't able to comprehend them that much......it's still the "tone and sounds" of these languages that have sounded the most beautiful to me:

TOP 3:

French (very elegant)

Persian (exquisite and unique)

Japanese (dramatic and stylish)

Spanish could probably come after these three.

But I don't care what you say, these three are the nicest pieces of tongues I've ever heard

i've never heard Persian before (well, i might have but didn't remember or didn't know that it was persian), but i think that although all world languages are beautiful illustrations of culture, FRENCH is gorgeous. i mean, in middle school years ago i took 2 foreign languages. spanish was required, so i took french for elective. the french wasn't as "intense" as spanish. anyway, my elective teacher knew lots of french, but her accent--it was just not authentic. it didn't sound good when she spoke it. but other than that, i've heard lots of other french teachers today speak french, and it is BEAUTIFUL.

"but i think that although all world languages are beautiful illustrations of culture"

definitely paris23, but i'll be the first to say, English isn't the most beautiful of languages (well...it can be if some British person was speaking poetry? or how the gone with the wind characters talk in the movie)

French, Italian, Spanish (the Argentine dialect is the prettiest b/c it sounds very Italian), Portuguese (from southern Brazil), English (when sung or w/ a proper British accent), and German (from Northern Germany. I'm not fond of the Bavarian and Austrian accents). Surprisingly, I found Mongolian to be pretty. I heard it for the first time last year. To me it sounded kind of like Japanese.

we had to learn some of those dialects when we did the play "Syringa Tree" ---about apartheid in south africa.

i played a black character--and i had to practice with a dialect coach. Zulu, Xhosa, and Sotho are the main tribes in SA...my character was Xhosa so when i spoke English, i just had an accent--but if there was a song, i did have to know how to click.

the language is very beautiful..esp. in songs.

yeah haha pointless information of the day =)

Italian, aurally, is the most beautiful language - there's a reason why most operas are in Italian. Italian is comprised mainly of vowel sounds, which are resonant, and which allow for a sort of long, flowing sound, despite the lilt or dialect of the spoken Italian.

French is nice, but it's a bit nasal, and very difficult to sing, I might add. German is very gutteral, and English is lazy. Chinese and Japanese sound extremely cool, and middle eastern languages like Arabic and Hebrew are also rather gutteral. The gutteral influence Arabic has in Spanish is what makes Spanish not as beautiful and clear as Italian.

Portugese is very pretty, too, and Russian is just awesome. I would also love to learn one of those Dutch languages.
