Davidson & Elon are overlooked in NC

Davidson has definitely captured interest in the West.

In Maryland- itâs definitely Johns Hopkins for the overrated. Underrated, maybe not so much UMD (itâs getting close to Hopkins) but definitely UMBC. Frostburg and Salisbury are actually not too far behind either.

Underrated-William&Mary, Holy Cross, Cal, Rice.

GA
overated: emoryâŠ
underrated: GA tec/ UGA

Overrated: TCU.

Underrated: Rice and Trinity.

Coolbreeze hahahahaha rjkofnovi hit the nail on the head.

Anyway:

Minnesota (opinion of the view of locals)-
Overrated: University of St. Thomas-some people think it has one of the best business schools in the nationâŠseriously, UMD-drinking school in a not-so-nice city anymore
Underrated: Macalester-locals never talk about it, Carleton-ditto

Wisconsin (opinion of the view of locals)-
Overrated: UW-Madison-yes it is a very good school and a world class uni, but where I am from some view it literally on par with Harvard and above Princeton, Marquette-overpriced school in a not-so-great neighborhood of a terrible city IMO
Underrated: Good question

Texas
Over-Rice, decent engineering but no other real standout programs. Anything you can do at Rice, you can do at UT austin or A&M for much cheaper.
SMU,TCU
Texas Tech- people treat it like UT or A&M but it doesnt even come close

Under-UT dallas

NY
Over- NYU, suny stony brooke, pace
Under- suny geneseo, u of Rochester, Fordham, Syracuse, adelphi

By people in North Carolina:

Overrated: Duke, Wake Forest, Elon. Duke is certainly a great school overall (and I have much respect for a lot of their individual programs), but its overblown quite often. Iâve met Duke students who admit that it is actually quite a party school (especially at the end of the semester). A lot of the negative stereotypes about the school are pretty true too. Wake Forest will give you a decent education, but it is not worth the cost. Some people view it as a peer to UNC and Duke, but the individual programs are just not as good overall. I really donât understand the hype around Elon. Sure, Brian Williamsâ son goes there, but really, whatâs so great about their programs? And the people I knew in high school who went there were, uhhhhh, not so smart.

Underrated: Davidson, UNC system in general. Most people donât seem to understand that Davidson is viewed as a peer to the likes of Williams, Amherst and Vassar. I somewhat agree with iStabBunnies regarding UNC schools, a lot of the other campuses in the UNC system are under appreciated. However, I think UNC-CH and NCSUâs reputations are just about right.

overrated: U michigan is definitely overrated for the stateâŠpeople tend to think that it is like an ivy of the midwest or something. In reality the state of michigan really doesnât offer any college that is a âsuperâ power like nearby Northwestern, U-chicago, Notre Dame, and Case Western.
Michigan is a good large, public, institution but it really cant compare to many private schools. I think Kalamazoo and Hillsdale are better than Michigan.

Underrated: Kalamazoo, Hillsdale, and Kettering.

" In reality the state of michigan really doesnât offer any college that is a âsuperâ power like nearby Northwestern, U-chicago, Notre Dame, and Case Western."

Case Western a âsuper power?â Wow.

If Case Western were in michigan it would still be the best school in the state and by a very decent marginâŠit just isnât as widely known as other colleges.

Iâm pretty sure practically everyone considers University of Michigan at Ann Arbor above Case Western. Certainly USNWR does.

Overrated: Stanford, USC, UCLA, UC Berkeley (shame Iâm applying to all three of them :p)
Underrated/Unknown: Claremont Colleges

Uh huhâŠThanks for clarifying.

And that settles that. Scripture always triumphs over reason.

Ohio: most underrated:
The College of Wooster, so good, should be ranked a lot higher.
Kent State: ok I know it isnât perfect but their nursing program is first rate along with design/fashion. It gets slammed and it shouldnât.
Denison: on par with Wooster
University of Akron: great pre-professional programs, strong in science and nursing. Huge improvements to campus, great honors college, wonderful satellite campuses serving very rural areas with courses relevant to each community.

Overrated:
Kenyon: it is fantastic but too expensive and benefiting from being very vogue right now.

Mass

overrated: BC, Tufts, Harvard, Northeastern

Underrated: Smith, Holycross

Delaware (aka DelaWhere?) has 5 four-year colleges and two community colleges, so Iâll just rate them all.

OVERRATED:
Delaware College of Art and Design - not even real, brand new, no credibility
Goldey-Beacom College - awful college and vastly overpriced, for all the stupid rich kids whose parents wonât allow them to go to community college with âcommonersâ
Wesley College - bad school, bad area, degree carries as much weight as an online degree
Wilmington University - ditto

UNDERRATED:
Del State: bad college, but surprisingly good Agriculture and Air Force ROTC (most people in Southern Delaware are farmers or work for the Dover Air Force Base)
U of D: Not well known outside of the Mid-Atlantic, but itâs an amazing school and Iâd put it on the same tier as UVA
Del Tech: Very good community college, people can get degrees for good technical jobs in a short amount of time

^False. Delaware isnât even in the top 25 for public schools. Virginia is second in the country.
