There goes that typical New England/NEU attitude again…
Typical New England attitude? Sorry – try a couple of thousand miles west, to the land of 14,000 ft mts at every corner, legal marijuana, and a very un-New England attitude toward fancy schoolin’ where LAC is likely to be mistaken for “licensed acupuncturist” :))
There is no SUNY flagship, but in my opinion it should be Buffalo. Most people probably consider Binghamton to be the strongest SUNY academically.
lOL. Yes Buffalo would be a far better bet for almost anyone. The other school is scheduled to have 20,000 students by 2020. And about academic resources Well there are no seats for students in the library now,let along when another few thousand are pushed through. Poor students must schedule advising weeks in advance. Not enough classrooms or instructors so don’t count on getting the classes you want. But there is probably an administrator for every student (only kidding on that one-close but not quite). They are pushing students through efficiently and with loads of A’s. But for an academically strong school Buffalo or Stony Brook is probably a better bet.
You meant 14,000-foot mountains. Hehe
I lived in CO and I miss it. I lived in Golden. Chief Mountain was my favorite hike.
Regarding quality, obviously there’s also the research component.
@LBad96 If people are constantly accusing someone of hating on a school simply because they were rejected, it’s probably because that person never hesitates to post negative comments about the school they were rejected from. For the most part, it’s easy to spot when someone is bitter towards a certain school. :))
@prezbucky, thanks, I fixed that fourteener reference.
I figured you meant CO instead of Wisconsin. (the weeed reference made it obvious)
@GreenTeaFanatic good point. Holding anger towards a school solely because one was rejected is a sad mentality to have, and also indicates that one may not be very happy at their current school.
I would say University of Rochester is underrated. Very serious about academics and undergraduate teaching. Not full of itself. When I first learned about Notre Dame’s ranking, I was truely surprised. So in my book, it is overrated.
“Yes” to Rochester being underrated.
“No” to Notre Dame being overrated. I think it’s a very good school.
I think ND is a direct peer school with WUSTL, Vandy, Georgetown, Rice, Emory, and CMU.
@LBad96 It’s always unfortunate when a person has that mentality and bitterness. Hopefully those people will mature
@hzhao2004 we are in concurrence there.
I’d also like to add Truman State and Evergreen State as underrated schools…particularly the former as Consumer Digest rated it the top value public school in the nation.
@GreenTeaFanatic amen to that. I think those people will mature in time.
@katliamom, I didn’t attend UCincy, but I do see it as a hidden gem.
Agreed that Rochester is underrated. Also Reed.
I enjoy seeing preprofessional programs derided, but not Wharton or Stern or Dyson or insert sacred cow here. And comparing Villanova to Quinnipiac or Hofstra is laughable. Check the numbers. I guess this is just a bashing thread after all.
Closing this thread as absurd. If it had stayed friendly it would have stayed open as harmless absurdity, but way too much sniping. Big surprise.
