Most popular/Least popular states

What state do you guys think is the most/least popular? I was looking at a poll for most and least popular states and it was quite surprising. I didn't think people hated New Jersey so much, I kinda like it here. What are your thoughts about the popularity of the states?

I would think California, Massachusetts, New York, and Florida are well-liked.

I can’t stand Nevada, South Dakota, or Mississippi. I think many in the US share my sentiments.

In order from best to worst:

Hill Country

Gulf Coast

Prairies and Lakes

Piney Woods

South Texas Plains

Big Bend Country

Panhandle Plains

In Wisconsin the Northeast with the exception of New York is not well-liked.

+1, Repede! I agree with you! I grew up on the edge of the Hill Country, though, so I’m biased.

People in California where I live generally want to stay in California. The more adventurous types probably prefer New York (just for NYC) and Massachusetts.

Top 3 liked/hated by Americans (IMO)

Liked: Colorado, Massachusetts, California
Hated: Texas, Alabama, Mississippi

Take a look at population statistics- that should tell you exactly what you want to know.

Most liked: New York, California, Massachusetts, maybe Texas/Florida.

Least liked: The Midwest, deep South, etc. (examples: Iowa, Wyoming, Mississippi, North/South Dakota, etc.)

I live in Cali, but, due to high taxes, people are leaving there by the thousands (including my 8th grade history teacher), so I wouldn’t say it’s popular at all.

Cali #1
LA is so nice

VA doesn’t get as much love as it deserves. there’s so much going on in NOVA, the CIA hq among others

As a Michigander, I think that we’re very content with the Midwest and don’t really care for the east or west coasts. They’re cool and important, no doubt, but all we really need is right here. (beaches with the Great Lakes, skiing and nature with the UP, big city life with Detroit, Ann Arbor, Lansing, diversity with Canada right down the road, etc.)

From my experience, we like the notion of the south. I personally would love to go down to VA and TN someday. We also LOVE Florida and pretty much everyone goes there over breaks. (there and Mexico, but not Texas. No one ever talks about Texas. Lol)

Delawhere???

Whenever I meet people at national conferences and conventions people don’t know it’s a state, so I say I’m from Philly lol

According to the Internet.

1. Hawaii

2. Colorado

3. Tennessee

4. Virginia

5 South Dakota

And the worst…

 • California
 • Illinois
 • New Jersey
 • Mississippi
 • Utah

Illinois isn’t that bad. They have some good colleges and Chicago is pretty cool.

I live in Missouri and its a fairly boring state. I don’t think there’s anything particularly interesting here, besides the Arch in STL.

The best states are:

 1. Pennsylvania cause that’s where I am and Philly rules
 2. Florida cause that’s where I go for vacation
 3. Massechusets cause boston has so many colleges
 4. cali cause everyone in cali is chill

Theres other good ones. Like Colorado but almost every place in USA and Canada is better then anywhere else in the world.

Lake Tahoe is in California
