Most Units ever Taken?

Just out of curiosity.
What's the most units you've ever taken? What's the most units you've ever heard someone take?

Disclaimer: Obviously, there's a big difference between failing all X units and getting a 4.0 with 13 units, but that's not the issue at hand. What's the most you've taken or heard of someone taking?

I’m taking 21 right now…

I’ve heard of people taking up to 25…

Well, one math major girl I know finished the requirements to graduate in one year while maintaining something like a 4.0. You probably know her if you’re taking math 191…

I think she was doing 28 (?) per semester…not sure though

I have a classmate doing 25. Considering doing that next semester…

you guys are all insane! :D

4.0 with 22 units last semester :slight_smile:
6 of those units were research related, but only 2 P/NP.

Did not fare this well when I took 21 units first semester freshman year though, so I don’t really recommend overloading on units.

i took 21 my first semester freshman year. im taking 20 units now…3 are for honors thesis and are p/f tho.

im planning for 13 units last semester. lol.

Legendary friend of mine took CS188, CS170, CS186, CS191, and Physics 137a all in one semester and I’m pretty sure he aced all of them.

Interesting to see how ambitious (or stupidly ambitious?) some people are.

I had a crazy friend who did 24 units, 12 of which are project courses. Not only that, he was heavily involved in an honor society.

He actually managed to have a very good GPA too (hence the honor society), but as far as I know, he’s just ridiculously exhausted on a daily basis with basically no time to unwind. He did teach me some excellent time management skills though :)

Even with 18 units I find myself having a lot of spare time… Maybe I should be studying harder… lol

19 units, although to be fair I was working 40 hours a week whilst I took them.

I’m taking 20 engineering units right now. 3 ChemE classes, 3 IEOR classes. (And one PE for an extra 0.5 units, and one decal which I didn’t bother adding units for).
I know an EECS major from my high school who does crazy **** on a regular basis. Aside from taking 20+ technical units for many terms, he has TA’ed several times for EE 100 and works in two research labs. Now he’s a senior and currently has a 3.955 cumulative GPA. Maybe you know him.

You guys are making me feel like a loser for being normal and average…

How many of them have labs or large projects?

@icesplendor:

LOL we’re talking about the same guy I’m sure.

@ucbalumnus
IEOR 151 has a case study and weekly lab.
IEOR 160 has a project.
ChemE 142 has two design projects.

On an individual basis, they’re not bad. It’s really ChemE 142 and ChemE 150B problem sets that compose the bulk of my work.

Everyone says that ChemE 154 (1 hr lecture, 8 hr/week laboratory course) will trump them all combined. I’ve been told that lab reports take 20 hours on weekends. And it’s only 4 units. Cool.

@eyeheartphysics, I suspected as much, haha. I am jelly of him, but he deserves his achievements. We were co-presidents of our high school math club back in the day, and now he’s leagues and leagues ahead of me and most everyone else.
