Actually TAP courses usually require an extra research paper or essay. Depending on the CC you attend, you're basically sitting in a regular class with an honors section.

If you want to go to UCLA, you'd have to move down there anyway sooner or later. Better sooner than later, right? : ) If you're rooming with friends or have you own apartment it would be possible to stay there while at UCLA, that gives you less stress after transfering. Also, since UCLA is so close, you may have a chance to work there over summer or do some volunteering/research while at SMC. I'm going to SMC as well and last year I was able to do some research at UCLA which was a good experience. I'm sure it'll help me get in as well (actually, the prof. personally told me I'll definitely get in if I put that on the app).

Btw, since it seems like you already have decided what to do I'm trying to give you more reasons to make you feel good, haha.

hahahaha thanks Thomas_

Thanks man, yeah as of today, it looks like we're all moving down. I was hoping maybe i could land a volunteering position at the UCLA hospital? Would that be possible? I'm trying to get in as a BIO major, and would like to put it on my transcript. If I can't volunteer at UCLA hospital, where else can I volunteer at that will look good on my transcript??

For infos about volunteering at the UCLA medical center take a look at this: Volunteer

I'm an computer engineering major so I just emailed many CS professors at UCLA about their research, that's how I found a position. You may be able to do the same thing for bio.

thanks again Thomas_
