So I'm really having thoughts on which school to attend. I know there isn't much difference, I've just heard that each school has strengths/weaknesses.

So anyone who has the experience, which should I go to? I really want to transfer to UCLA, and Foothill has TAP, but this is not guaranteed. How likely am I to get into UCLA with TAP, compared with signing a TAG with Irvine?

I'm all set for DA but I wouldn't mind going to FH either...I live the same distance from both schools, conveniently.

a lot of people who go to de anza and foothill assume that many will transfer to UCs but most people transfer to san jose state, just so you know, but whats great about those ccs is that they get you transfer in time while i’ve heard people staying longer at other ccs

Honors is worth it… most courses it is simply one more presentation/speech or assignment. Plus you get early registration… a major advantage. Don’t bother worrying about tag…its useless if you are aiming for ucla/cal because if you are your GPA and such is probably going to get you into all the other UCs

I’m going for Business Admin at Irvine/Cal or Business Econ at LA.

Irvine would be the safety if I did a TAG with them.

I’m used to academic rigor, I’ve been in AP/Honors classes throughout my entire HS career, I have a 4.2 GPA, but I was just wondering if the Honors Programs at CCCs even count for a lot in the eyes of a UC admissions officer.

So yeah, for me, hopefully Irvine would be safety status.

I was in numerous AP and honors classes in highschool too and I can tell you the classes at De Anza are easier and honors doesn’t make it any much more difficult, just more busy work imo. It does count for something. You should do as much to stand out if you are aiming for Business Economics at UCLA.

Biz Econ… You need to search up the previous threads for Biz Econ majors rejected from UCLA (for Fall 09).

1) Foothill is an AMAZING school! I’m glad I moved there from De Anza. Didn’t like it there at all. The faculty at Foothill is top-notch. People are more friendly.

2) Biz Econ is a highly impacted major. Do TAP. It matters A LOT.

Yes, the honors program will definitely help you look better if you’re applying to Cal. Berkeley along with UCLA and every other top tier schools want you to be a part of the toughest programs available at your school. From what I hear from my buddies at De Anza, the difference between honors and non-honors in terms of workload isn’t that different and the extra work is predominantly busy work so it shouldn’t be difficult at all. Personally speaking, I’m currently a student at De Anza and I never took part in the honors program and was still accepted to both Cal and UCLA so if you really can’t get into the honors courses, then it’s not the end of the world.

By the way, what’s your major? If you’re doing anything in the science/math fields, for what it’s worth, I heard Foothill has a better selection of teachers in terms of ease, accessibility, and teaching ability.

@pskate, does De Anza give out more A’s than Foothill? I was wondering because I know a lot of people who gets A-'s at Foothill. I’m kinda scare because this is my first year at Foothill.

This thread is 5 years old…no one is going to respond.

Schools don’t really just give out As more or less easily than other schools. It’s all about you, and the professor. The name of the school doesn’t really mean anything. As far as being worried about minuses, there is no reason to be worried. If a teacher uses minuses, it means he/she also uses pluses, so it does not make the class innately easier or harder. I don’t think you should be worried about this. Just use ratemyprofessor.com and move on.
