Move In dates

So you can move in on thursday? I didn’t see that when I was choosing my move-in time.

Also is it okay to show up like 3 hours earlier?

i didn’t really have a preference, i picked top one so i don’t have to make my bed, don’t have to worry about bothering my roommates with lights and don’t want them to pull pranks on me (fact or myth: stick finger in hotwater while sleeping make you pee)

i wouldn’t suggest tell people not to sit on your bed, i mean isn’t that much space, the bed is comfy and easy for people to sit on, and its not really that big of a deal really unless you are really anal about people touching your stuff… just get the top bed if you do, climbing takes like 2 seconds not a big deal at all…

another thing - if you get one of the res halls like dykstra, some rooms have metal bedframes, wood bedframes or a both. if you get there earlier, get the wooden one.

so if i want the loft without the bottom bed, then does that mean the desk underneath it would be mine? or do we choose whatever bed, desk, and closet we want? I definitely want the top beds, i get really anal about people touching my things lol

^
typically. though you can discuss with your roommates; it really doesn’t matter

Can you get a ladder from the front desk for your bunk bed? I’d imagine the ladder would take up a lot of space in an already cramped room.

To clarify the dates–

September 18,19,20=move-in
September 17=move-in for $75 extra

But when I called Housing, they said that your appointment doesn’t really matter–you can really come on any of the three days, and even any time–they said they just dish out appointments in order to ease the “traffic flow.”

And I know this thread strayed from this topic some time ago, but-- does anyone know an exact date when the meal plan becomes active? Would it be the 18th???

^
where does it say that theres an extra fee for moving in on sept 17?

i find it much easier to have the desk next to it, so you can step on it to get up, use the shelves to put your alarm and stuff… just let the person with bottom bed to take the desk underneath the loft, he is right next to the desk, he has the good bed, he shouldn’t complain :D

Yeah, I don’t like people touching my stuff. Would it be unquestionable if I got a rug and told them to sit on that instead :P? (If I happen to get the bottom bed). Also I heard that the closet under the bed is the smallest and not to choose that one correct?

just tell that to your roommates and grab the top bed, they’ll understand, its just common knowledge that bottom bed is the room couch so most people will sit down without even asking and its pretty crammed on the ground for people to sit down there really… most people like the bottom bed for convenience and one of you roommate is bound to be a person that doesn’t mind people sitting there… if you have to get the bottom, get a bed cover and make your bed everyday so people just sit on the cover

arklogic-- it used to say that on the move-in webpage, but it seems they took it down

Ehh, how do you quote a message? I tried it in my last post.

Bottom bed is pretty much the room sofa everywhere. If you don’t want butt prints on your pillow put it away every morning. If you are very anal about your bedding, spread a spare blanket over your bedding so people can sit during the day, and you don’t have to smell them later. That way you won’t seem like a fussy grandma about your bed.

And for the record, the meal plan starts with dinner on September 20.

Do you think if there is going to be free food somewhere? I am guessing the cafeterias will be open so we can buy food.

I believe food is free for parents/guests during move-in weekend, if you swipe in with them.

brackets, quote and after the message brackets, unquote

If you want it to say from XXX
you use [ quote=Namehere!] [/ quote] without the spaces.

Cool, got it!
