Move in day advice?

I'm an incoming freshman and I'll be living in South Hall. An move in tips specific for Wake?

Congrats on South Hall - that’s the new dorm, right? Tips - mostly be patient and be prepared to wait - as you drive up the hill past admissions to get to the dorms - traffic moves slowly. Once you get to the dorm - have it planned out in advance - unload the car quickly - then the driver goes off to park the car and returns on foot. Have your stuff as consolidated as possible - it’s easier to keep track of a large duffel/bin that holds many small items than it is to keep track of many loose items - particularly if it is raining. I labelled bins/duffels with son’s room number just in case a well meaning person grabbed something to help and then got confused as to where he was headed with it.

Mostly - have fun and be patient/calm. There 's lots to do that first day - it would be easy to feel overwhelmed. Best of luck to you!

Thank you! Yes, South is the new dorm.

If it’s like last year, it’s likely your car will be swarmed by volunteers and you’ll be able to get everything to the room in one trip.

Your driver should be someone who won’t mind walking a long way back to South after parking the car.
