My daughter will be moving into the honors dorms next Wednesday for rush. Does anyone know if there are carts to help with all the "Stuff". I wasn't sure if there would be "man power" in the form of upperclassmen or not since it is earlier than regular move in. Anyone with experience with honors dorms and move in for rush - is it going to be crowded or do you think there will not be as many in the honors dorm? I know the number is over 1500 girls this year!

There are carts (huge laundry bins on wheels) at honors but as far as manpower - when we moved in it was mostly traffic control where you dropped off, not help to the room. This is the first year they have had sorority rush early and allowed early move-in for girls so I suggest calling housing to see what is going to happen. Honors dorm has freshmen and sophomore so just freshmen girls who rush may not be huge number - although 3 of D’s 4 suitemates rushed.

It’s hard to anticipate how move-in for rush will go so I suggest patience. There is limited space at honors to unload. However there is meter parking along street that you may be able to use. Bring quarters. Street parking on that road may be city of Columbia, not USC. If so they won’t cut students any breaks.

Thanks - we are not in a hurry so we can be easy going I think! Until I get overly hot! We got a parking pass in the mail but it has Friday’s date on it (since we are out of town) so I guess I should call to ask if we can use that on Wednesday?

Yea, the parking passes are good for Friday and Saturday. It may just be a pull up to curb and drop your stuff and you’re on honor system to move as soon as possible. I think I would call to clarify how things will flow since, like I said, this is a first. If you’re not already doing it, have D check her school email in case they send stuff out about that day.

I hope it all goes smoothly. I think it will be a great benefit to be done with bulk of recruiting before classes begin.

I’m actually moving into Honors this wednesday as well. Not many girls are rushing, shouldn’t be too much traffic. Maybe only about 100 of us tops and that is pushing it. Considering half is boys, RAs and upperclassmen.
