What is the move in process for students other than Freshmen? Daughter is going to volunteer for Move In Crew but didn’t know the process for getting a key and getting her checked in to her new room. Can someone provide the details? THANKS!!!
S has moved in early the last 2 years for Marching Band. We are told to go to a dorm lobby (For the life of me I can’t remember the name.) anytime after 8:00 AM on his move-in day to pick up the key to his room. We have never had to wait very long, but we are there as close to 8:00 AM as possible. S has to be at the band room by 2:30 PM the same day so it doesn’t give us very long to get everything moved in and set up.
You will miss all the help carrying all the stuff to the room, but in our case since S moves in on Tuesday there is no competition for the elevators.
Thank you Go9ersjrh - that is very helpful! She will be moving into Mayfield - does anyone have any experience with a Mayfield move they could share? THANKS!!!
Our son was in a Mayfield for sophomore year. I don’t recall the walk from the car to the apartment to be too onerous. All single rooms. The single rooms are small but perfectly nice…and a private desk and single bed are provided. Closet was OK…not as great as Commons closets. He had no sisters growing up and his Mayfield was the first to be coed… so he learned a lot about women I think and heard Girl Talk in the living room. They did tend to show up to support each other’s activities on campus. His housemates had a few squabbles re managing housekeeping duties as there were only two or so neatniks in the group of ten and some of them were bad about not picking up at all (slobs). He and I did a lot of the cleaning of the kitchen on discharge end of year day and threw out a ton of junk and old food from the kitchen. He has no regrets, and I imagine other groups are much more functional re managing the shared spaces properly. It’s all good! He is still friends with his housemates. They all moved on to different living situations the following year.
