Anyone got anything to say about NOLA Experience, Greenie Camp, Move-in, whatever? I hear there were a couple of celebrity sightings. Liam Neeson helping his son move in, and Harry Connick, Jr. helping his daughter. Both in Monroe, I think.
Just a place to share any early experiences, if so desired.
My son reports housing is at 96% capacity. It’s a big class! Room mates will have to figure out a way to get along as there is not much room for making changes as in previous years. But at least it’s not as bad as East Stroudburg U- (local to me), they have such a huge class that they turned many of the doubles into triples! Offering $50/week off the hosing bill if you got put in a triple.
Moved my daughter into Wall yesterday. The experience was wonderful. Pulled up very early and a dozen upperclassmen/women opened the doors, greeted us and unloaded all of my daughter’s items, refusing to let her carry anything… absolutely loved the aspect of community that I experienced.
Roommate could not have been a better fit, wonderful young lady and family as well.
@fallenchemist - when Liam moved his son in, do you think he discreetly took his roommate aside and said, “I have a unique set of skills, and if you cause my son any trouble, then I will…” ?
=))
I was joking about that kind of thing when Skyping with my Taipei resident D last night. (She comes home next week before heading back to Stanford, yay!!) Lucky he has a son and not a daughter in this particular case or the number of “Taken” comments would be unbearable, no doubt. Even so, I am sure for a short time the lad will endure his share of such ribbing, but I am also sure he is used to it.
@Nerdyparent - do you also have a child at Bama (I do - saw you over on that board…)? At any rate, moved our DD into JL last Thursday. We had stopped by to check out her room and they were happy to let us carry her stuff up and settle it in her room. Brothers are good for something! They carry boxes like champs. She didn’t feel comfortable staying the night - so we returned on Friday (official move-in day) and brought the rest of her stuff that had been at our rental house. Very efficient process - even if there are no elevators in JL. DD isn’t thrilled that she got assigned to JL (all girls dorm). She wanted Sharp/Monroe. I’m assuming she will come to appreciate it. Rooms are bigger, cleaner, have sinks in the corner, 2 walk-in closets, a ballroom on the first floor. What’s not to like? It is, however, sort of out of the way and a good, long walk from the Dining Commons.
She seems to be adjusting well and loves her classes so far.
@VAmomof4 Aye - I have a DS at Bama.
When I saw fallen chemist mention Liam Neeson, though, I had an irrepressible urge to chime in here on the Tulane forum.
@Nerdyparent
We welcome all nice people here! I don’t see people mention it much, but I bet there is a fair amount of cross-application between Bama honors and Tulane. It would make sense.
