I am waiting to hear first hand reports of those first year move-in stories!

I'm also waiting to hear a move in story-from my senior son! It took him 2 extra hours to drive to New Orleans yesterday; he ran into 2 different construction delays. Because he got in after dark, he didn't have much to say about what he saw. I do know that he still doesn't have electricity at his home; we are hoping for this week. In the mean time he and his air mattress are landing at different friend's homes! As a mom that tends to micro manage her kids way to much, this is killing me to keep my mouth shut! The apron string are frayed, but not totally cut!

I heard from my son on Friday. He flew down since most of his belongings were still there. All of his stuff was in his room. He has a new mattress. Only loss was the laundry detergent that spilled on other contents of the storage tub, they only needed to be washed and he only lost the detergent.

He got his books with no problem and said that things were going well. It was hard to not go with him to orientation, but we had gone down in November and he did not feel that he needed us to go again. I am very proud of his decision to return. He would suceed anywhere, but he can help make a difference at Tulane.

I posted a long set of observations re New Orleans and returning to Tulane in the Parent's Cafe. I have since been to the "other New Orleans" (Lakeview, Ninth Ward) and will post more later. It does include a little of the first-year move-in experience for my S; it is one person's saga, but go there if interested.

I do plan to post here on the Tulane Forum my very encouraging feelings about Tulane as a place for students to go. I know a lot of students have applied but aren't sure it's "viable" or viable for them. The latter I can't answer, but about the former I feel very positive.
