Move Out Day

Well yesterday was pretty bad for moving out. Some kids were still studying and taking finals while others were running through the halls.
Move In Day went really well. There were plenty of orange carts to move things. Yesterday I saw 3-4 carts total at New/Birnkratz and evryone basically caried everything.

The kids had to clean their rooms but there were no cleaning supplies and few vacumns to check out. Needless to say most of them looked like they had not been cleaned all semester.

My suggestions would be to have final move out day on a weekend for parents who did not have the time to take off and drive there to pick up the stuff. Also, if they had a vacumn on every hallway and cleaning supplies the place would end up cleaner. The kids had a breakdown of costs charged for wall clean, missing mailbox key, vacuming needed, etc and the costs were exorbitant. I did see a few pods delivered for kids who wanted to store over the summer.

I did like the food bin collection. Many kids had $100 ledt on their food card. They had a bin where you could buy food with your card and donate it.
Also, there was a goodwill area wher kids were droppinh off fans, lamps, chairs and even a TV they couldn't take home.

We ended up bringing home unused bars of soap, full shampoo bottles, razor blades, mouthwash never used and several power and extension cords never used, reems of paper (lined and printer), and school supplies. Basically we saw another site on CC that had lists of what to bring and we figured if he had all the toiletries for the year in a bin he wouldn't have to go out and buy them. Half the stuff was not used.

I don't think it was well planned at all...I had a final on the 14th from 2-4 and had to mix packing with studying. Add the fact that we get kicked out at 5 and it was almost a recipe for disaster.

Agreed. I was in the same boat, but fortunately I had time to pack beforehand so that after I finished my final at 4pm, all I had to do was move my things to the car. What really bothered me though was the fact that housing did not send an email out about the deadline to apply for an extension or just the time and day we had to move out by. For winter break they did, so we all assumed they would this semester. When my friends and I went to go talk to the New/North CSC, the lady simply said we missed it and they're sorry they forgot to send an email to Birnkrant residents. Luckily it didn't affect me, but some of my floormates had to find a place to stay for the night since their flights were for the 15th.

I had a final past the freaking deadline. Anyway they could have fixed everything by just giving one more day, they just are really cheap and wanted everyone out, im really glad im done with trojanhousing.
