I'm a military kid (my dad is in the navy) and I moved across country between my sophomore and junior year. This move disrupted my planned AP class schedule and caused my extra curricular base to fall apart. I was forced to discontinue membership in clubs from sophomore to Junior year because my new school is significantly smaller and does not offer as much. Will colleges take this into account when I apply this year? I know that they look for commitment and passion in extra curriculars, however it was simply not possible for me to continue some clubs all the way through high school.

Any response or insight would be greatly appreciated!

It is completely understandable that you might not be able to continue certain clubs that are no longer offered. However you need to show that you are doing something. Start new activities or clubs that interest you. Or show commitment to those old activities by doing something related. You aren’t limited to clubs at school. You can do things on your own or things in the community.

I actually plan to start a club at my new school that I was actively involved in at my old school. I currently have leadership in 4 school clubs as well as a participant and future junior staff member for the Boys State program. I have definitely adjusted to my new situation and I have joined new clubs. I am just hoping that college admissions understand that I had to start over in almost all of my extra curriculars after moving across country.
