I am aiming to get into the best college possible. However, it looks like I could be moving to a different high school. Two things that are bothering me are extracurricular activities and leadership positions.I was the Secretary of a drug awareness club as a sophomore, and I am becoming a junior this year and would be the treasurer if I wasn’t moving. I would also be the vp of another health related club. I will obviously not have those positions if I move high schools. What can I do to make up for that? Won’t that really negatively affect my application? What if the new school doesn’t have anything like it? The second thing is ec’s. I was in all state band, science fair, and I volunteer at a retirement home. I am supposed to do the same in my new hs, right? What if they don’t have a science fair, or what if there is no retirement home to volunteer at? Is there any way I can possibly beef up my app? Also, I have one quarter of the chance of a normal person of getting accepted into a college because I am an international student requesting financial aid. I need to have an excellent application to be able to attend college at all.
There probably will be band, science fairs, and retirement homes where ever you go. Don’t overlook getting involved in community activities as an alternative to school activities.
So how badly will the gap of not having a leadership position affect me?
Any answer?

If you show continued interest in your activities even when you move schools (even if it isn’t in leadership positions), colleges will take notice of that and appreciate it. They want to see your dedication.
What about the junior year where I will not have a leadership position?
Kids change high schools all the time. Colleges know that. You will not be penalized for factors outside your control.
Okay. Thanks.
