Moving Company

I need a couple of people to help me move in to my apartment. Does any one have a suggestion? Just a couple of guys to move furniture I will have everything trucked down.

Thanks

ROTC? Haha. Dunno. I always figure if I am hiring movers then I will make them bring their truck etc. Or Brown College folks help me move in (they did that for at least 2 years). Greeters in general?? I dunno… Sorry… :</p>

Look on the local Craigs list…

[charlottesville all services classifieds “mover” - craigslist](<a href=“charlottesville services "mover" - craigslist”>charlottesville services "mover" - craigslist)

Hey… That was fun…

Craigslist is sketch after the Yeardley situation…

Powder had a post on this awhile back. She used Student Movers or something like that and liked it. You could also try posting on a student site asking if anyone wants to make $20.

Hazel: as always, you know more than me…explain?

I just meant with the Yeardley situation, and the 5 robbery/sexual assault emails I’ve gotten from Gibson this summer, I wouldn’t trust a random person off of craigslist anymore.

I used student movers, they’re fabulous but expensive.

True. Maybe if you see a student on there, ask them to respond through their virginia.edu account? Then at least you can look them up and see if they’re reasonable or not. Vistany being a dude may not have to worry about some scrawny 140lb guy attacking him, although that wouldn’t help much with the moving part

What the he11 is up with that?

I gotta say, I don’t miss Lampkin’s “don’t kill yourself” emails.
I never had to keep track of events coming up. Halloween, 4th Year 5th, Foxfields, etc? Got a “don’t kill yourself via drinking too much” emails. Semester ending or midterms? Got a “don’t kill yourself via stress” emails. In a weird way, it was nice

haha shoe…

Oh comeon, you know it’s true. While I liked that they were looking out for the student body and reminding us to not be total ■■■■■■■, they were a bit dismal at times. They generally made me feel worse when I would finally catch up on emails at 4am after eating nothing but peanut M&Ms and Mountain Dew all day (I haven’t had a single MD since leaving there…WOOT!). Sorry Pat, it’s all I could manage…:D

On another note, my friend was one of those early Gibson emails. He got robbed right outside his apartment the day after graduation. Hospital refused to treat him beyond stabilizing him because he couldn’t prove insurance and had no ID…because he got robbed. His doctor’s response? “Well, welcome to the real world” sigh

Student Movers were wonderful!! I highly recommend them and they seem flexible too and reasonably priced. They are professional, very friendly, flexible in scheduling, fast, reliable>>everything you would want.
I just got back to CVL yesterday and am looking so forward to the 4th year experience!

Have a great 4th year!
I did already mention how student movers are great though… I do think they’re kind of expensive but you pay for the professionalism, timeliness, and safe handling (aka it’s worth it). But I always use them, have since 3rd year (so 4 moves). They’ll also store your stuff for you through the company right next door on Avon St Ext (which you can also just get a unit from for very reasonable prices, competitive with other storage but open 24/7 which is rare, I did this summer after 2nd year so I had them move right from the unit for 3rd year which was great, and had them set up the unit after 3rd year which was also great since I could just sign paperwork right then and there and be done instead of coming in a bunch of times to store stuff slowly).

Thanks Hazel! I think 4th year will be wonderful
I love my course load (kind of took the harder/mandatory courses up front).
Thanks for speaking up for the Student Movers; I’m just chiming in because they exceeded my expectations by leaps and bounds when I used them once! I’ll probably have to use them again after graduation in 2011.
I’m glad to see you are still here helping folks, Hazel. Are you in CVL?

Hehehe…my brother worked for them for like 4-5 years. He was very reliable and responsible, but I could tell you stories about some of the things he said they did… ;)

Yes I have one more year, I’ve started student teaching already! Hard work but definitely rewarding and a total blast.

Hazel’s too smart for UVa to kick her out
Good luck in fourth year powder, it’s a freaking blast and I miss it. On the bright side, there’s a whole new, exciting world past graduation  oh and UVa alumni groups throw soo many social events, it’s like you never left…huzzah!

Oh my goodness! PowderPuff is a fourth year this year? Time has flown!

OMG! Yes, I am entering 4th Year and I can’t believe it either. But, I’m here enjoying a few off days at the Grand Marc and the Corner before classes begin shortly. ^-^ !!
Oh yes, and thanks for remembering me Dean J, I certainly remember you
