Moving DuringLetter of Recommendation

I'm planning on moving out of state the end of my sophmore year (military dependant).
1. Is it possible to get a letter of recommendation from what would be one of my old high school teachers or counselers because they would have known me longer than the my new teachers and guidance counselers (who would have known me only for a few months)?
2. Will having a letter of recommendation from a teacher or assistant principal that I would have only known for a few months affect my nomination process?
3. Can I get a letter of recommendation before I move and use it for my nomination, or will it be too old?
4. Overall, how much will moving affect my application process?

well I think you answer a couple of these questions yourself.

The applications ask for letters of recommendations from your math teacher, english teacher, etc. so as long as they were your math teacher or still are, then that qualifies.

The point of the letters is for the academy to see "proof" of your performance in the classroom. The Academy does not care if you don't have any classes with these teachers, just as long as they were your teachers at one point in time, see what I'm saying?

"Will having a letter of recommendation from a teacher or assistant principal that I would have only known for a few months affect my nomination process?"

Think about it man, if they have only had you for a couple months, they probably don't know you very well, so of course it wouldn't be as comprehensive or thorough review of you than a teacher that's had you for years could write...

As far as when you get the letters, it doesn't matter I don't believe. I got mine early in my junior year, fyi.

If you are moving at the end of your sophomore year, then you will not be able to use current teachers unless you talk to your B&G officer. The application for USNA online requests recommendations from your English and Math teachers from Junior or Senior year.

k, thanks for clearing it up for me, I haven't seen the part about the letters being from the math and english teachers.

Just to add something, the letters of recommendation for your nomination are different than the ones for your appointment. The Naval Academy asks for the e-kmail address of an English teacher and Math teacher from your Junior or Senior year. Then they send them a form to fill out.

For a nomination, if your MOCs are like ours, you need three letters of recommendation from anyone and a statement from your Principal/Guidance counselor. That may be different for you, but the teachers are definite for the Academy.
