Moving from a 26-34 on the ACT

I am a sophomore and recently took my first practice ACT. I see a lot of posts on here of how to move your score up quickly, but not really how to do it with lots of time. Is it even possible to move up that much? I just got a tutor who is coming periodically. Should my strategy differ from those that don’t have a lot of time?

One of the advantages your extra time gets you is the luxury of figuring out which test prep method works best for you. Try the tutor but you could also try classes and online programs. The social aspect of the classes might suit you better or the steady, self-paced feedback from online lessons might be more compelling. The key is to figure out which of these makes you want to work at it regularly.

Another big advantage: you have time to try out the SAT and see if you consistently do better on one or the other.

Make time in your daily or weekly routine for test prep. You can use that time for other things like the PSAT and APs, not just the ACT/SAT.
