Moving out from dorms

There's one thing that seems a bit bizarre to me. Carnegie Mellon requires the students to move out between semesters and during spring break, which is fine. But they also seem to require that the dorms be emptied. If for example I buy a TV, or rent out the microwave-refrigerator combo, what is to happen? That's not to mention clothes and books and all that... It seems pretty annoying to have to keep packing and unpacking every couple of months.
Does Carnegie Mellon have space to rent out and store this stuff or what?

Thanks

that is bizarre... if it were true...

"dorms emptied" means empty of ppl...

you definitely can leave your stuff in your dorm room during xmas and spring break...

during the summer then you do literarly empty your dorm.. in that case there is storage provided in the basement of several dorms (first come first serve basis)
