OKay, all of my roommates are going to tranfer out and i have to move to school, BUT, I have already bought a lot of things, such as beds ,tables, lamp. and so on.
I won’t be able to take them to my home since I go to different state for college…
What should i do?
I mean, i can’t just leave them in the apartment after returning the keys and let the stuff of the complex to sort these things out right?
I do not need a storage for these things since room at school is not even half of the size of my apartment’s room.
Maybe to should make it clear that i just want to get rid of them but i do not know how to…
Sell them to the next person looking for an apt? Ask the landlord if they would be interested in helping you? (furniture may make the apt more attractive) Or put an ad on your schools student FB page or craigs list.
Places like Goodwill and Salvation Army will take just about anything that is in usable shape. Some will come to you to pick it up. You could sell it on Craig’s List. If all else fails, put a listing on Craig’s List offering it for free, I did this once when I needed to get rid of a lot of furniture when the charity didn’t show up and I needed it gone. I got over 40 calls within about 2 hours. If you do this, make sure you are not alone when people come to pick things up. Personally, I would call the local charities, churches or homeless shelters. It is safer and helps your fellow citizen.
If you leave the stuff in the apartment complex after moving out, it is highly likely that you will lose part of your deposit. The landlord will expect the apartment to be in the same condition (minus minor wear and tear) that it was in when you moved in. Otherwise, you will be charged the cost of repairs/cleaning.
