MPulse 2011 Acceptances?

This is so confusing. Is this the MPulse MT we are talking about here or the College MT Acceptance?

Congrats to all. We have not received one… still hoping.

My D was also accepted into MPulse. Needless to say, she’s very excited!

Thanks, theatremomma. MTPOPS, I was referring to the MPulse spots as this is the thread for MPulse. I simply mentioned MT as they have various arts spots, and his was for MT. I didn’t mean to confuse the issue.

MTPops…MPulse is the pre-college program, not the BFA. This thread is just talking of pre-college admissions for the summer.

Does anyone know how many people applied/ were accepted?

I wonder if rejections come via email too?

I haven’t gotten anything. But I got BTP acceptance a week after everyone else so I never give up until rejected! Did acceptances audition by DVD/in person?

I auditioned by DVD and was accepted.

Ugh. Getting ready to make a deposit to BTP… And it will be great!!

I’m assuming my student got an email. She also got into BTP and must decide right away. She sent a DVD.

Auditioned by DVD and accepted.

My D auditioned on campus.

Our daughter auditioned via DVD and got an acceptance today.

One question: Does anyone have any idea what the schedule is like at MPulse? One of the things we were really interested in at BTP was the intensive dance. Does anyone know how much MPulse has them dancing?

Thx

Hey soozievt:

I’d be interested which way your student goes (and why). Our daughter got accepted to both as well and has to decide right away.

The one question we have about MPulse is how “academic” it sounds on the web site. Our D would much rather be on her feet than at a desk in a classroom. Anyone have feedback on the daily schedule?

Thanks.

Congrats to your daughter Mrpeabody!

My D attended MPulse…she came in with lots of dance experience/training. She really LOVED the dance training she got there, but it is not the mainstay of the program. Kids were divided by skill level on the first full day and then stayed in class with those kids the whole 3 weeks. She really loved the dance there…and especially loved the dance teachers! There were two both years she attended. One in particular was a favorite of all the kids. He was a UM grad and is currently performing in Memphis on Broadway!

The schedule was very FULL! There were the dance sessions. Sessions with Brent Wagner that focused on “acting the song” and the world of MT in general. There were master classes with many former UM grads and current faculty. Students had homework most nights and did it.

There were a couple of good sized breaks for meals and a variety of evening activiites. The only real day off was on Sunday and there were planned events those days too.

My had a wonderful experience and made many, many good friends.

Good luck in your decision making.

Thanks mybroadwaybaby.

My daughter is different as she needs more dance experience.
I’m hoping they can give it to her.

My D applied and we haven’t heard anything.Does anyone know how many they take?

Oh hey, I just got my email today!! YUS!! I can’t wait! Whaddaya know? Complain and ye shall receive!

@MomofB, I think it’s something like 40

mrpeabody, my student has chosen to attend MPulse. She only applied to MPulse and Broadway Theater Project as she is also attending Stagedoor Manor for three weeks and these programs dovetailed with the calendar. BTP and MPulse (not to mention Stagedoor) are both great programs and I know kids who have attended each. It comes down to what you want to do for the summer and examining exactly what each program offers. They are a bit different. BTP is a wider age range and could conceivably be done in a future summer whereas MPulse is mostly for rising seniors and some rising juniors. MPulse is a bit more of a pre-college program that simulates a BFA program. BTP seems to emphasize dance more than MPulse though they both including voice, dance, and acting. MPulse may do a bit more audition prep, but I can’t say for sure. BTP has a performance that is a chunk of the program in terms of rehearsing. Your child simply needs to compare them and see which one closely aligns with what she wants to accomplish and do this summer, because it is not like she can go wrong either way. I don’t think one program is better than the other.
