I just got the honors college invite in the mail. Does scholarship info come later or did i just not get any?
stats: gpa 3.99 UW
sat: 1560
I’m not sure, I’m waiting on scholarship info too and I have a 4.0 UW GPA with a 34 ACT
Check financial aid / scholarships tab. It’s subtle, but should be there.
A few years ago my dd had 33 ACT 3.8ish GPA that included several AP classes. She was accepted into to honors college and was offered 50% off of tuition. As I recall the scholarship was included in the invite, but not 100% sure.
Has anyone received an invitation to the Alumni Distinguished Scholarship competition yet? I had heard invites generally go out mid-December for this on campus competition in late January - early February. DD applied by 11/1 deadline, and was accepted to MSU but hasn’t received anything regarding Honors or this competition yet. Thinking she may not have been invited to compete.
DS got the honors college info via snail mail after admission. Have you received the admission packet/flag? It came weeks after that. Also wondering about this scholarship competition. If anyone receives the invite, please share. I’m not sure if he would be a candidate. OOS, 1510 and 4.0UW. The honors college invite comes with a non-binding acceptance and he didn’t click on that link/check that box until yesterday. Hopefully that didn’t hold him up. I graduated from State long ago so this is all very exciting. Congrats on admission!
Thanks for the info. She got the flag package about 3 weeks ago with $15,000/year (plus it appears a study aboard scholarship?). She applied on 10/31. She’s also OOS, with 4.0, APs, 34 ACT, NMSF, so we’re hopeful of at least Honors. Not really sure how competitive it is to get invited to the Alumni Distinguished Scholarship competition - if that’s really happening in January, I’d think invites would be out before Christmas
My daughter was accepted to MSU in late November. She received the acceptance electronically and then the paper letter wrapped in the MSU flag a week later. She hasn’t received any info regarding financials. We checked her portal tonight and there were two scholarships listed under the financial aid button. Is this official? Should we expect to see something more formal? It said “we are proud to offer you…”
Looks like this is from Pitt going by the email address at the end?
That’s how they do it. No fanfare.
D21 was accepted into Honors early December and received the ADS competition invite today via mail. Don’t know if there was anything on her MSU portal.
Thanks for the update, and congrats to your D! What are the dates of the competition? Also, if she happens to check her portal to see if its reported there too, can you post an update?
We don’t need to activate our D’s “MSU NetID” to see financial aid offers, honors status, or competition invites, do we? That all either comes via mail or communicated through the admissions portal, correct?
Check the financial aid tab in your admissions portal. My son didn’t receive a letter or email about college-wide scholarships, but when he checked the portal today, it said he had gotten a $15000 out of state scholarship.
I am instate and haven’t received an Honors College Invitation. I applied to Lyman Briggs on October 25th and received an acceptance letter on Nov. 2nd.
3.9 UW GPA w/ several APs + dual enrollment
36 ACT/1560 SAT
Leadership positions + good awards (including National Merit SF)
I know it’s quite competitive, but as an in-state applicant, I was expecting atleast an invitation to the Honors College. I’ve heard of several kids with lower stats than me getting A.D.S invitations.
I emailed an Honors College AO asking about when Honors College invitations are sent out,.
I’d be interested to hear what (if anything) you hear back from your email to the Honors College. Good luck with your college selection and scholarship applications!
They emailed me back and apparently my GPA is too low (I have a 3.91 UW).
Thanks for the update, but I’m sorry to hear that
My daughter was accepted 10/27 (so 10 weeks ago) and has been waiting to hear about honors. She emailed her AO on 12/15 and she said that honors invites had been mailed on 12/14 but she still hasn’t received anything. So she emailed her AO today and the AO said that she has been invited to honors… Just wanted to give some hope to those of you who are still waiting.
Thanks! My daughter sent in the extra essay on 12/22, which was 8 weeks after her acceptance. We didn’t think about contacting her AO. Thanks for the hope. Her first semester doesn’t end until mid January, so if they need to see her current grades for any reason, she may still have a bit to wait.
