That sucks! All your stats are amazing other than that. I mean a perfect ACT and almost 1600 on the SAT and National Merit. I’m surprised. Have you reached out to the AO who might have sent you a welcome email after admissions?
My son just received his ADS invite in the mail today.
4.0W 4.67 UW, 1510 SAT, 8 APs
Congrats! We were prepared to move on mentally, but I guess we’ll keep checking the mail Maybe I’ve underestimated the criteria for MSU’s honors program and getting an invite to ADS, but I would have guessed unweighted 4.0, 6 APs, 34 ACT, NMSF, service/community involvement/leadership would led to an invite. I wonder if In-State vs OOS makes a difference?
Oh wow. Didn’t consider that angle. We are OOS.
Did you hear anything about scholarships yet? Our stats are similar and i’m still not seeing anything in my portal
Received ADS invitation today. It was postmarked 12/23 and just received it today. If you think you have the stats to be eligible and haven’t received anything, I’d contact MSU because the mail is so delayed right now or it could be lost. We also just received other mail that was postmarked 12/4.
What have you guys received in terms of scholarships? I got an email from MSU saying that my financial aid package was in, but the package was all loans. I’ve been accepted into the Honors college (1490 SAT; 3.98 UW; 12 APs; All-state athlete) and was hoping to see more than full cost tuition.
received ours today all loans except study abroad. James Madison College OOS
Are they expected to send out more admissions decisions today?
Has anyone heard anything recently about being invited to the Honors College? I got accepted about 8 weeks ago and thought that I would be invited but have not yet heard anything
Sounds like our DD is on similar timeframe. She emailed her admission counselor to ask if she was still be considered as part of the first round or if she needed to now submit the essay. Her counselor wrote back that she had been accepted, and notification should be coming in the mail soon. That was last week, haven’t got anything in the mail yet, but I trust she will. So its OK to email and ask about it.
My son reached out over email since he hadn’t received it but got the ADS invite and this is what they emailed him back:
Your Honors College invitation is on its way – the delay is not any fault of your own, but just a technical issue we’ve had this semester due to MSU Admissions accepting self-reported test scores for admissions. We were finally able to review all of the students admitted this way before break, so now that we are back we are hoping to get your invitation packet mailed soon!
Sadly our DD’s email response from MSU said Honors invite was coming, but not ADS.
I would have guessed OOS with unweighted 4.0, 6 APs, 34 ACT, NMSF, sports/service/community involvement/leadership at one of the top ranked HS in Iowa would at least get an invite - oh well. Good luck to those of you who will be participating in the ADS!
Do you know how to figure out who my admissions counselor is so that I can reach out to them? I’m not entirely sure how to find that information
Go here Contact | Admissions | Michigan State University, then enter the state your from
Our area admissions counselor said he didn’t have any way to check our help (State of Missouri). He said it is best to reach out to the honors college directly. My daughter sent an email to the honors college to find out if they received her additional essay that she sent right before Christmas. They responded that they had, but with the holidays had not had a chance to look at it yet, but would be getting to it soon.
I have already emailed my admissions counselor so I guess I will have to wait and see if they can give me any information or if I should email the honors college directly
You should definitely email Honors College because that’s a separate system that the AO doesn’t involve in from what I understood at MSU. That’s what my son’s AO told him. So he emailed them while cc’ing the AO in the email and received a reply by the very next day. Pretty fast their response.
My daughter received her honors college in the mail today 1/13 (postmarked 1/7) and was accepted to MSU on 10/27 (so it took over 11 weeks from acceptance to receipt of snail mail honors invite). There is nothing on the portal that shows honors or the additional $5000 scholarship that she received. She also received the ADS invite on 1/6 and that was postmarked 12/23. I’d definitely reach out to your AO and honors college if you haven’t rcvd an ADS or honors invite - it could literally be lost in the mail.
Is there any chance of being admitted in the Honors program if you applied Regular Decision? My student got their acceptance within a few days but no other details. Thanks!
