MSU or Rutgers

This is the last little decision I have to make on my app list. I'm sending out my SAT scores tomorrow to make it official. The rest of the schools I'm applying to are big city, large, public, academic party schools with relatively strong polisci programs, good sports, good Extra Curricular oppertunity and all that good stuff. As far as academics go Michigan State and Rutgers are essentially equal. because of merrit at MSU aid they would cost about the same for me. MSU has a better paper (i'm interested in writing for it) and a slightly a better party scene, but Rutgers is more politically active, and might have better access to cities (I haven't checked MSU's Chicago scene, but Detroit is not an option (no offense to anyone that lives there But I'm sure you understand)). in short I only want to apply to one of these two, but I don't know which to pick. I'm Leaning towards MSU right now, but that could change. which should I apply to?

(and note: I might not submit my SAT scores to either til' I figure it out)

^^ James Madison College. MSU is located 2-miles from the Michigan’s political epicenter - Lansing, the Capital where all the politicians reside. E. Lansing as a city is just gorgeous!! MSU has one of the prettiest campuses in the Big Ten with scenic red cedar river running across. Plus, the city/school is in upswing these days as FRIB currently drawing thousands of academic researchers in numerous scientific disciplines to the campus. In addition, as an alumnus and someone who lives in Chicago, I can tell you that State fans/alum have huge presence here. In fact, even one of the game watching bars is owned by MSU alum and named after the major street on campus (Grand River Bar & Grill). Without a doubt, it is literally the backyard of Michigan in terms of geography and job feeder. Finally, Big Ten Conference > Big East both in academics and sports imho. Go State!! lol~

MSU is about 3.5 hours to Chicago in a car.

Why not apply to both? Can’t you spare that $50~ fees?

I am biased, lived in NJ for 20+ years.
